: May 17th, 2021Job Statement:Teach100- and 200-level courses in the English writing, English Literature, Speech, Communication and other areas as qualifed. Mentor students in their capstone research paper and presentation. Teaching load includes three 3-credit courses, one 1-credit course (as needed), and advising student mentees. Carry out instructional and non-instructional assignments. Maintain office hours, participate in faculty/staff committees and meetings, and engage in projects and activities that contribute to the educational and personal growth of students, and the continuing development of HTIC.Essential Functions:Create a learning community in which respect for multilingualism and multiculturalism is fostered.Develop an active learning environment in which lectures, exercises, and field trips are combined; grade exams and papers; consult and work with students in groups and individually.Keep abreast of developments in field of expertise through reading current literature, interacting with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.Perform Program Review and Accreditation tasks, such as researching, preparing, and analyzing data for the assessment of the LA Program.Maintain full responsibility of their assigned course(s) by preparing, conducting, assessing, and reporting class/student results to the Dean of Liberal Arts.Provide students with research assistance and instruction on the use of computers, the Internet, and subject specific materials both in classroom instruction and one-on-one guidance.Actively participate in academic and/or administrative committees and meetings that deal with policies of the College, departmental matters, academic issues, curricula, budgets, equipment purchases, and staffing. May serve as chairperson.Participate in official school activities and functions such as commencement ceremonies, convocations, student presentation days, Chancellor’s Aloha receptions for new students, faculty forums and faculty-staff meetings.Complete documentation and communicate with Student Services and Academic Services and the Dean of Liberal Arts in a timely manner regarding administrative/support matters (textbook orders, submission of syllabi, course schedules, and final grades).Teach a minimum of three 3-credit courses and one 1-credit course (as needed), or equivalent workload.Serve as a faculty mentor for a capstone research course (IS 200).Maintain a posted schedule of office hours.Adhere to requirements of incorporating specific objectives and course outcomes for all classes taught in line with institutional outcomes and mission.Undertake special assignments as requested by the Dean of Liberal Arts.Proctoring tests and exams.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Master’s degree in subject field from regionally accredited college or university at the time of appointment.Minimum of two year of previous college-level teaching experience.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English, both verbally and in written form.Knowledge of higher education, and teaching/learning psychology and methods.Intermediate skills in word processing, spreadsheets and Google applications.Detail orientation and accuracy in duties performed.Ability to handle diverse projects simultaneously.Desired Qualifications:Prior program review writing and knowledge.Previous experience teaching international students.Teaching experience in following course.ENG 22: Introduction to Expository WritingENG 100: Expository WritingENG 200: Research WritingENG 250: American LiteratureSP 151: Personal and Public SpeechOtherENG 209: Business WritingENG 253: World Literature I (to 1600)ENG 254: World Literature II (after 1600)ENG 259: Literature of Peace.Job Knowledge - Competent in required job skills and knowledge; exhibits ability to learn and apply new skills; keeps abreast of current developments; displays understanding of how job relates to others.Use of Technology - Demonstrates required skills; adapts to new technologies.
