American Water is seeking a Full-Time Manager, Internal Communications! If you have a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communications or Public Relations, apply TODAY for immediate consideration!* _ *Primary Role*_ The role of the Internal Communications Manager directly supports the strategic internal communications needs of American Water’s states and the respective senior management teams. Develops integrated internal communications strategies and tactics that are aligned with and mutually reinforce American Water’s strategic goals and objectives, which support the successful accomplishment of state-specific business plans and objectives. The position provides senior-level communications counsel, recommendations and effective implementation to ensure consistent and effective internal communication that is both necessary for American Water employees and important to the overall health, stability and advancement of the company. Reporting to the Senior Director of Internal Communications, the Internal Communications Manager is Proactive and strategic and works to support State Presidents in achieving state business plans and operating objectives by constantly communicating clear, consistent, strategically aligned and ongoing communications to the employee base. An active member of the State's senior team and is charged with building an engaged workforce comprised of highly productive employees who are involved and committed in helping the company achieve its objectives. This role recommends communications strategies, implements and delivers best practices for state-based internal communications tactics and plans. Has a comprehensive depth of communications knowledge and experience with demonstrated expertise in implementing integrated, strategic communications programs. A vital component of an integrated communications team operating through a matrix management model that is responsible for functional excellence reaching all audiences with a full array of internal and external communications messages, tactics and activities. _ *Key Accountabilities*_ * Develops, writes and contributes content for all Internal Communications channels. * Produces communications materials that articulate and reinforce state business objectives and ensures that the employee base is informed and engaged in state-specific activities, successes, accomplishments and challenges. * In addition to state-specific communications, the Internal Communications Manager is responsible for driving Corporate messages into the states and collecting and providing to Corporate important news items from their respective states. * The position will be accountable to the Senior Director of Communications and External Affairs and to each respective State President served. * Supports all internal corporate communications campaigns that require on-the-ground facilitation to ensure employee engagement and involvement. Identifies state-specific stories and accomplishments that should be show-cased company-wide. * Leads and collaborates with the corporate team to develop plans and tactics to communicate major company-wide projects to internal audiences. * Works closely, collaboratively and seamlessly with company communications professionals and the entire Corporate Communications team to ensure communication integration and maximum effectiveness. between each state and corporate. _ *Knowledge/Skills*_ * Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a matrix management structure. * Possesses exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills. Editorial and production experience in print and electronic media. * Knowledge and experience using web technology as a communications vehicle and resource. * Is experienced and adept at reviewing and providing thoughtful feedback for both copy and graphic design and layout. * Demonstrated ability to prioritize and re-prioritize quickly.
