Laboratory DirectorDirect Placement | Excellent Benefits | First ShiftJob DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Director to manage and oversee environmental, health and safety, chemistry process control lab, and quality and reliability testing activities. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, improve existing systems, and enhance overall operational efficiency. This position reports to the Plant Manager and supervises lab technicians, waste treatment personnel, and manages outside consultants and vendors.Responsibilities:+ Schedule pick-ups of hazardous waste, maintain manifests and oversee operation of batch and flow through waste treatment system+ Oversee correct labeling of hazardous waste containers and all required records+ Troubleshoot problems with the waste treatment system and perform maintenance and calibrations for waste treatment system+ Oversee compliance with industrial waste discharge permit+ Oversee compliance and complete regulatory filings including EPA Toxic Release Inventory, EPA Hazardous Waste, quarterly sewer discharge report, and EPA air permit+ Maintain safety compliance records and schedule and provide safety training+ Handle inspections with regulatory agencies and work with outside laboratories+ Oversee techs who perform process bath testing, chemical additions and troubleshoot process baths+ Evaluate and implement new chemistries and techniques+ Perform monthly and periodic testing including salt spray, humidity, adhesion bend test, and Taber abrasion+ Oversee in-depth projects such as changing or moving entire process lines, designing and implementing a new waste treatment system, and procedural changes to improve operationsQualifications:+ Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field is preferred.+ Experience with management and regulatory is required.+ Waste Treatment experience is preferred.About ActalentActalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
