Position Summary:

Create human-centered designs by gathering customer needs, designing graphic elements and building delightful user experiences. This individual leads a specific functional area or team in support of creating UX/UI design. Expert in digital design patterns, user interface best practices, and tools of the trade.

In order to build an exceptional customer experience, individuals will be responsible for:Gathering and evaluating user requirements in collaboration with business partners and software engineersIllustrating design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemapsDesigning graphic user interface elementsCreating process flows for digital solutionsDeveloping both low and high fidelity UI mockups and prototypesCreating original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables)Preparing and presenting rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholdersIdentifying and troubleshooting UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)Adjusting designs based on user feedbackAdhering to style standards on fonts, colors and imagesMentoring junior UX designers and providing feedback to team members on usability, process, and styleWorking on complex user experiencesResearching and establishing best practices for UXCoach a team of UX designers and provide feedbackCoach internal partners on how to establish UX patternsResponsibilities:

Create prototypes and design specifications by working collaboratively with business and IT partnersWork closely with other designers and developers to execute designsParticipate and lead sessions and workshops with business partners to gather requirementsConduct user researchSupport a community of UX Designers within a functional area or teamRequired/Basic Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Graphic Design or Information TechnologyIn addition to required degree, seven (7) or more years related work experienceIn lieu of Bachelors degree(s) AND seven (7) or more years related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND eight (8) or more years related work experienceDesired Qualifications

Experience working across multiple energy utility disciples such as outages, energy usage and analysis, renewables, products & services, etc.Well versed and knowledgeable in regulated and non-regulated utility products and services and can create custom digital experiences for both.Additional Preferred Qualifications

Expert in wireframing and prototyping tools and techniques and/or front end development technologies and techniques.Expert in user interface design patterns and/or coding practices.Familiarity with user research methodologies including usability testing, card sorting, web analytics, field studies and heuristic analysisAbility to collaborate effectively and communicate with influence in large cross-functional project teams.Ability to work within, contribute to and author design systems and style guides.Portfolio of WorkWorking Conditions

Hybrid - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility.
