Assistant Graphic Designer - Part - Time

Pay Rate: $17.50 - $18.50 per hour
Hours: 19 hours per week
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Assistant Graphic Designer to join our team on a temporary, part-time basis to support the Marketing and Communications department. In this role, you will work closely with the Marketing & Communications Manager, Graphic Designer and Digital Marketing Specialist to produce facility publications, signage, social media graphics and digital sign graphics that align with the Elk Grove Park District brand guidelines.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Create and produce facility publications, print signage, social media graphics, and interior and exterior electronic message graphics that will be displayed throughout the District.Attend ongoing webinars, trainings and conferences to keep updated on the latest trends in graphic design.As needed, you may be asked to design print collateral for posters, banners, flyers, promotional items and ads.OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Perform special projects and/or other duties as assigned by the Marketing and Communications ManagerPerform the job safely and in compliance with District policies, procedures, work and safety rules.Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)Knowledge of typography, color theory, layout design, and image manipulation techniques.Proficient in CanvaProficient in Google Suite and Windows operating systems.Ability to design with strategy, implement feedback, work collaboratively with teams outside of the Marketing Department, and work independently or in a team based environment.Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees.Ability to maintain a positive image and relationships with the community and third party partners.Skill in coordinating numerous projects and working with multiple deadlines.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field (such as fine arts, visual communication, or digital media).1-3 years of relevant working experience
