About The Product Development Team

The Product Development team consists of a group of dynamic Designers who rely heavily on a creative and organized Assistant Designer.

Overview Of The Assistant Designer Role

As an Assistant Designer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the upholstery fabric and leather development process from concept through to production. You will collaborate closely with designers, merchants, and suppliers to ensure the timely and accurate execution of fabric and leather development activities.

ResponsibilitiesResearch and Development:Assist in researching new fabric and leather trends, technologies, and developments in the market.Support the development of new fabric and leather concepts and innovations.Sample Management:Coordinate and manage fabric and leather samples from suppliers.Organize and maintain sample library for easy access by design and merchant teams.Testing and Evaluation:Assist in conducting tests and evaluations on fabric and leather samples to ensure they meet quality and performance standards.Document test results and provide feedback to fabric and leather developers.Communication and Coordination:Facilitate communication between design, sourcing, global offices and merchant teams regarding fabric and leather development progress and issues.Collaborate with suppliers to track and expedite sample deliveries.Administrative Support:Provide administrative support such as organizing meetings, preparing presentations, and maintaining records related to fabric and leather development.

CriteriaBachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Textile Design, Fashion Design, or a related field.Previous experience (internships included) in fabric development, textile manufacturing, or a similar role is preferred.Knowledge of fabric and leather properties, weaving/knitting techniques, dyeing, and finishing processes is a plus.Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with design software/tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.

The expected starting pay range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
