King County’s Procurement & Payables (P&P) Section is seeking a talented Communications Program Manager to establish and lead a new communications program. The Communications Program Manager will collaborate closely with P&P leadership and other King County stakeholders to craft clear, engaging, and consistent messaging that aligns with P&P's mission and values. Communications Program Development:

Establish and manage a comprehensive communications program highlighting P&P's projects, initiatives, and achievements.Develop a communication strategy to engage King County agency partners and other internal stakeholders.Content Creation and Management:

Create, curate, and manage content for internal newsletters, updates, and other communication channels.Oversee the editorial calendar, ensuring timely and relevant dissemination of information.Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure content is effectively distributed across platforms such as SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and the P&P intranet.Brand and Messaging:

Develop and maintain a cohesive brand voice and style for communications.Craft key messages and talking points for leadership and other spokespeople.Partnership and Collaboration:

Work with the P&P Supplier Program Manager to develop and disseminate communications to the supplier community, including important updates and information.Partner with the P&P Training Manager to develop strategic messaging and content for P&P-led training and resources.Coordinate with other King County departments and agencies to align messaging and communication efforts.Channel Management and Innovation:

Oversee and optimize content for P&P’s communication platforms, including email, intranet, and social media.Work with the Communications team to explore and implement new communication tools and technologies as needed.Enhance P&P’s Social Media program to better engage the supplier community.Feedback and Continuous Improvement:

Develop content for surveys and conduct surveys to gauge customer satisfaction and gather feedback from employees and stakeholders.Analyze survey results and feedback to assess the effectiveness of internal communications and procurement processes.Use insights to refine and improve communication strategies and practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and training in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, and/or Social Media Management.Professional experience establishing and/or managing a comprehensive corporate, non-profit, or agency communications program.Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling messages for different audiences and channels.Experience using current communication tools and platforms.Strong interpersonal and verbal communications skills with the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences, and to work with all levels within the organization.Project management skills that include planning, managing and executing a variety of communications projects.Ability to think outside the box and develop creative solutions for communication challenges.Passion and ability to learn new skills and keep up-to-date on current trends.A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.The ability to adapt to changing circumstances and balance competing priorities.Intermediate level of technology proficiency using MS Office productivity tools in your daily work.Ability to manage your time and adapt to changing priorities, work on multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, meet quick deadlines, and produce timely and quality work products.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience managing communications in a government or public sector setting.Experience with brand management, content creation and management.Familiarity with communication tools such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.Experience with LEAN processes and principles.Experience with SharePoint, MS Teams, and other collaborative online tools.

Work Site Details:

The work associated with this position will primarily be remote with some in office reporting.Location Requirement:

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.Work Schedule:

This position is Exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and therefore is not overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40-hour workweek; normally 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.Union Representation:

This position is represented by Teamsters 117.Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop. When working remotely employees must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work, remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours, and follow FBOD’s Hybrid and Remote Guidelines including on-camera participation during virtual video meetings.
