Position Overview:

The Video Producer & Editor will be at the forefront of our efforts to create compelling, short-form video content tailored for social media. You will collaborate closely with our social and communications teams, making video the cornerstone of our outreach efforts. You will also work with a contracted video production firm, leveraging their expertise while contributing your own creative vision. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for storytelling, an eye for detail, and the ability to produce engaging content that resonates with diverse audiences.

Lead the creation of short-form videos for platforms like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. This includes concepting, shooting, and editing content that aligns with our brand voice.Studio Management:

Utilize our new in-house video studio to produce a variety of content, including live streams, quick response videos, and podcasts. Ensure the studio's equipment (cameras, backdrops, etc.) is used effectively.Collaboration:

Partner with the social media team to develop content strategies and with the communications team to ensure video content supports broader organizational goals.Innovation:

Experiment with new trends and formats to grow our brand’s presence on emerging platforms, similar to how The Washington Post engages audiences on TikTok.External Liaison:

Work closely with our contracted video production firm to enhance production quality and incorporate their insights into our content strategy.On-location Shoots:

Manage video shoots both in-studio and at external events or in the community as needed.Qualifications:Experience:

2-4+ years of professional video production and editing experience, preferably within a brand or larger entity. Freelance or school experience will be considered if accompanied by a strong portfolio.Technical Skills:

Proficiency in DSLR camera operation and familiarity with Adobe Premiere or CapCut for video editing. Experience with motion graphics is a plus.Creative Skills:

Strong concepting and ideation abilities, with a demonstrated ability to create social-first video content. Ability to script videos and generate creative concepts is highly desirable.Social Media Expertise:

Proven experience producing videos specifically for social media, with a portfolio that includes short-form content (Instagram Reels, TikTok, etc.).Soft Skills:

Self-starter with strong project management skills. Ability to work collaboratively and bring innovative ideas to the table. An entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to manage projects from start to finish.Education:

No degree required. Portfolio and practical experience will be the key factors in evaluation.
