The Automate & Scale (A&S) team, part of the Cross-Devices Marketing (XDM) organization, is leveraging state of the art Generative AI technologies. We're seeking a talented Machine Learning Engineer with a solid background in the design and development of scalable GenAI and ML systems, deep passion for building GenAI powered products, and a proven track record of executing complex projects. As a member of our team, you will leverage Amazon's industry-leading AWS generative AI technologies, including Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, AWS Trainium, and AWS Inferentia, to develop scalable, high-performance solutions that empower our marketing and design teams to create rich, personalized content at scale. You will work closely with these teams to understand their needs and translate them into technical implementations that delight our customers.The types of experiences you'll be building include:- Developing solutions to generate better performing detail page titles, bullet points, and product descriptions for our devices.- Create high quality images using the latest GenAI models to better showcase our products.- Build intelligent automation tools to expedite and scale the generation of marketing content for all of Amazon Devices.- Work alongside our product team identifying and delivering new functionality to enhance our sales and marketing process.This Machine Learning engineer is also expected to play a key role in raising the AI/ML skillset within the organization, so a passion for teaching/mentoring is important. This involves bringing deep AI/ML expertise to collaborations with other engineers, leading lunch & learn session, conducting tech talks, setting up regular office hours, evangelizing lessons learned & industry best practices, and more. The ideal candidate is one who possesses deep, real-world, hands-on experience in executing/shipping AI-based products in a fast-paced setting.Key job responsibilities- Design and develop scalable, cloud-native applications to power text and image generation capabilities- Leverage AWS generative AI services to build efficient, cost-effective models and inference pipelines- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver innovative solutions- Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, design, coding, testing, and operations- Mentor other engineers, especially on AI/ML initiatives, and foster a culture of learning & collaboration. Provide thought leadership and hands-on support in selecting, defining, training and fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and other GenAI efforts.Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent- 3+ years of non-internship, professional software development experience- 3+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience- 3+ years of collaborating with, and influencing applied scientists and the broader science community within an organization- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering teamPreferred Qualifications- Graduate degree in Computer Science or related field (MS or Ph.D.)- 2+ years of hands-on experience in building scalable ML infrastructure.- 2+ years of experience in ML inference pipeline, Model performance optimization, and Model quality monitoring.- 3+ years of experience with end-to-end software development and life cycle of machine learning solutions.- Excellence in technical communication with scientists and engineers- Track record of implementing AWS services in a variety of business such as large enterprises and start-upsAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
