The Interaction Institute for Social Change is seeking a Communications & Marketing Manager. They will lead the development and implementation of communications and marketing efforts for our national nonprofit which partners with individuals, organizations, and networks to provide them with consulting and training to build their capacity for collaboration for racial equity and social change.This role will appeal to a person who is energized by an advanced commitment to collaboration with the staff of a mission-driven organization. The Communications & Marketing Manager will lead the development and implementation of a strategic communications plan with multiple synergistic goals: raise awareness of IISC, capture the organization’s unique contributions to the field, and position the organization as a leading option for consulting and training engagements and funder investment that build individual and organizational capacity for racial equity and social justice. The Communications & Marketing Manager will be responsible for increasing IISC’s visibility among clients and donors through a combination of efforts, including the design and implementation of effective communication campaigns, from content creation to digital dissemination.We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package which includes 100% medical, dental, vision coverage for individuals employees, spouses, domestic partners and dependents. 10% - Strategic CommunicationsWork with staff to develop an annual strategic communications and marketing plan that identifies key audiences, core messages, goals, and strategies for increasing inquiries from potential clients, boosting workshop enrollment, and increasing donor interest and funding.Develop and consistently implement guidelines for creating clear and compelling messages and content consistent with IISC’s values, brand, and communications strategy.Serve as trusted advisor for IISC staff on all matters related to external communications.Serve as brand champion and support the organization in any update/revision of the brand.Partner closely with the Business Development Manager to ensure strategic communications efforts result in the generation of a robust pipeline of potential new client contracts.Partner with the fundraising team to cultivate and secure grants and donors.40% - Thought Leadership & Content CreationSeek out opportunities for IISC staff to advance thought leadership in the field through speaking engagements and conference participation, through placement of IISC-authored articles in key print and digital media platforms, and more.Develop an editorial calendar to guide the release of blogs, case studies, e-newsletters, and other key content.Develop compelling copy and images for website, social media posts, e-newsletters, and key elements of internal communications.Maintain IISC’s blog by writing and editing blog posts and ensuring there is a sufficient flow of new posts by a diversity of authors.Develop options for illustrating and promoting IISC’s approach and impact through storytelling and case studies and include on the website and otherwise disseminate as appropriate.Write and design promotional material for workshops and other events.Serve as IISC’s spokesperson and/or identify and field the most appropriate IISC spokesperson as the need arises.25% - Digital MarketingDevelop and implement integrated digital campaigns (email marketing, social media, and website) to promote awareness of and interest in IISC’s offerings and contributions overall, to drive users and donors to IISC’s website and blog, and specifically to increase registration for public workshops and events.Use analytics to test, integrate, and improve digital campaigns (e.g., run meaningful A/B tests; analyze and improve CTR; deepen engagement on social platforms).Evolve IISC’s email marketing/e-newsletter and social media platforms and build and manage IISC’s distribution list.25% - WebsiteMaintain and update website with fresh and relevant content.Use analytics to improve user experience and refine website performance.Work with web developer to improve and evolve website.Lead an effort to determine when and how IISC will engage in a full website redesign and partner with a web designer/developer to implement those plans.The Skills You’ll Need

Success in the Communications & Marketing Manager role will require a deep commitment to advancing racial and social justice as well as to IISC’s mission, vision and values. Your work should have a demonstrated understanding that collaborative transformation comes from shifting and building power in ways that challenge the underlying drivers of inequity.The ideal candidate will also bring the following skills, attributes, and experiences:An energetic, creative storyteller with experience using digital platforms and content to increase audience awareness and engagementPassion for audience-centric communications and enthusiasm for testing new ideas and approaches to identify and reach IISC’s target audiencesAbility to lead, drive, collaborate, and work independently while seeking feedbackPreferred Qualifications3-5 year’s experience designing and implementing effective communication and marketing campaigns, including digital campaigns, at nonprofit and philanthropic organizationsExcellent verbal, writing and editing skillsDetailed understanding of how to use and expand email marketingExperience with CMS, Google Analytics, and basic SEOKnowledge of social media marketing and how to leverage various platforms to IISC’s advantage, especially Linked InExperience with basic graphic design (e.g., develop visually compelling social media posts with Canva, PPT, or other platforms)Experience selecting and managing vendorsThe People

You will report to the President and will collaborate cross-functionally across the organization with both full-time and part-time staff to ensure that the communications and marketing needs of IISC are met on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, and initiate and manage relationships with outside vendors, as needed.The Organization
