Overview Of Position
The Manager of Field Communication oversees communication to OPTAVIA’s community of coaches and clients, ensuring they receive information that is accurate, compelling, and aligned with the brand’s voice, style, and tone. We are seeking a creative and skilled writer with refined editorial skills who can guide a team of communications professionals in producing high-quality touchpoints that keep our community engaged and informed through various platforms, including email, website, newsletter, social media, and other channels.

This role offers a unique opportunity to support key business objectives, driving the communications strategy for one of the brand’s most important audiences: it’s independent coaches, who are the lifeblood of the OPTAVIA program.
The global obesity crisis continues to impact people of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds, and now with the advancement in innovative medical solutions, there is greater consumer and commercial interest in health and wellness than ever before.
Adoption of medically supported weight loss solutions has accelerated rapidly but many consumers are struggling to understand the role that medication can play in supporting long-term health. We believe weight loss medications alone are not a sliver bullet, but when paired with lifestyle changes, clinician care and foundational drivers of wellbeing, including nutrition and exercise, it can play an important role in addressing significant health challenges faced by people around the world.
This person will have the opportunity to support tactical execution as we transform OPTAVIA in this dynamic landscape.
Job Responsibilities
Guide development of communications plans and content, reviewing to make corrections and provide feedback according to brand standards and industry best practicesWork cross-functionally and within team to evolve, standardize, and implement changes in brand voice for Field communicationsLead and develop a team of communication professionalsOversee measurement, reviewing performance metrics and making data-driven recommendations for improvementLeverage innovation to use new tools and processes to drive efficiencies
Scope
The Manager of Field Communication reports to the Senior Manager of Content Strategy and Field Communication and oversees 2 communication specialists. This role is based in Baltimore HQ and is hybrid.
Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities
Detail-oriented, creative communicator, both written and verbal, with a passion for storytelling.Strong writing, proofreading, and research skills as well as excellent grammar and vocabulary.Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related area.5+ years in communications with a track record of successful campaigns.Proven ability to lead with 1+ year of managerial experience.Demonstrated ability to meet or beat assigned targets and deadlines consistently.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Strong organizational skills and ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.Strong initiative to achieve results.Positive attitude.Attention to detail and ability to proactively provide creative solutions.Demonstrates a high level of personal accountability.Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.Travel as required.Knowledge of the direct sales industry is a plus.Experience in Field communications is a plus.
