Beacon Hill is seeking a qualified candidate for an Editor contract role in Atlanta, GA. This role involves making complex economic research accessible and engaging. The candidate will use strong editing skills and a deep understanding of economics to improve the clarity of our publications. In this hybrid role, you'll collaborate with economists to translate technical content into clear, concise messaging, adhering to our quality, risk, and style guidelines.

This contract role is hybrid and will be from October 1, 2024 to March 25, 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide in-depth editorial support for research publications, demonstrating a solid understanding of economic principles, policy applications, and complex subject matters.
- Leverage strong editing skills to improve the accessibility of research products, including highly technical publications, for the appropriate audiences.
- Collaborate closely with economists to absorb complex topics and ensure publications effectively communicate the intended message.
- Balance ideas and feedback to enhance the clarity and accuracy of research publications, while adhering to quality, risk, and style guidelines.
- Ensure clarity and accessibility of research outputs, tailoring content to meet the needs of our diverse audience.
- Edit and occasionally create content for web materials or special projects, ensuring a consistent style and clear communication of key research messages.
- Stay informed on economic trends, finance, monetary policy, and the Federal Reserve to maintain content accuracy and relevance.
- Ensure compliance with Bank policies and protocols in all publications; liaise effectively with Public Affairs, copy editors, and design teams.
- Develop and manage publication schedules, coordinating with authors and other subject matter experts, and serving as the primary liaison for cross-departmental collaboration.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the department.

Ideal Candidate:

- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; advanced degree in economics, business, journalism, or English is a plus. Strong background in Economics preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience editing complex or technical content for broader audiences. Demonstrated ability to quickly understand and simplify intricate ideas.
- Skills: Exceptional editorial skills, effective interpersonal and communication abilities (both verbal and written), and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel). Familiarity with LaTeX and Overleaf is advantageous.
- Knowledge Areas: Solid understanding of economic principles and current issues, with a keen interest in economics and public policy.
- Additional Qualities: Proven ability to manage deadlines and balance various short-term and long-term projects with meticulous attention to detail.
