The Strategic Communications Specialist will support NA-11’s Executive Director and Director of Strategic Studies with a variety of organization management functions including those related to Congressional, Intergovernmental, and Public Affairs, Nuclear Weapons Council, directives, U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) and Inspector General audits, and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. The candidate will collaborate with NA-11’s senior leaders and subject matter experts.The Strategic Communications Specialist position requires a dedicated individual with strong initiative and creativity, a strong interest in government affairs with prior experience working at another executive branch agency/department, on Capitol Hill, at a non-governmental organization (NGO), or at NNSA.Essential Functions:Coordinate and develop directives and policiesFacilitate congressional, intergovernmental, and Nuclear Weapons Council actions and develop strategic communications with help from subject matter expertsFacilitate Public Affairs actions and develop content including press releases and web articlesAnalyze GAO and Inspector General audit actionsCoordinate and develop briefings and reportsConduct research on government policies, orders, and legislationDevelop standard operating proceduresAssess, recommend, and help implement organizational process improvementsDevelop FOIA responsesMaintain internal tracking log and data for actionsReview and summarize technical and programmatic documentsLead and support NA-11 organization management actionsManage and implement tactical day-to-day logistics, scheduling, correspondence, and other actionsAll other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:College Bachelor of Arts degree with major or specialization in related fieldExperience supporting congressional or federal government programsExcellent written and oral communicationExcellent organizational skillsCustomer service orientedOutstanding team player able to work with a diverse group of people stationed in different geographic locationsHard worker that shows initiativeWorks well with short turnaround deadlines in fast-paced office environment and is adaptable to changing prioritiesDisplay a talent for leadershipHave ambition and possess the drive to help the U.S. governmentMinimum two years of related experienceKnowledge of all Microsoft Office tools and Adobe AcrobatAbility to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearancePreferred Qualifications:Prior experience working on Capitol Hill, with an executive branch agency, or non-governmental organization (NGO)Master’s Degree in political science, economics, history, or EnglishFamiliarity with NNSA Management and Operations (M&O) modelLocation:Washington DC/National Capital RegionHybrid work schedule with 2-3 required in office days at the U.S. Department of Energy Headquarters (Forrestal Building)Salary:Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate’s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.Benefits MELE Offers:
