$209,000.00 - $271,000.00What’s the role?We are looking for a Senior Director, Corporate Communications to join our Communications & Community team in Brooklyn. This person will establish and amplify Etsy’s corporate narrative so that all stakeholders understand who Etsy is, why we matter in the world, how we are differentiated, and where we are going. This is a role that is deeply involved in strengthening and protecting Etsy’s corporate reputation among some of its most important constituents.To be successful in this role, the Senior Director, Corporate Communications will create new and compelling ways to deliver information to and engage external stakeholders through owned and earned channels. The leader will have an in-depth understanding of communications and will be able to develop strategies and programs that deliver measurable results.This is a full-time position reporting to the Vice President, Communications & Community. Leading all aspects of Etsy’s corporate communications function, which includes communications related to our overall business strategy, product, tech, advocacy, impact, safety and marketplace policy, crisis and issues management, employer brand, and more.Setting a vision for the corporate communications team that defines success, key strategic objectives, and identifies priority storylines, outlets, and thought leadership opportunities.Establishing and evolving Etsy’s narrative and ensuring that we speak with “one voice” across all of our communications touchpoints.Acting as the steward for Etsy’s reputation and serving as crisis comms lead across a range of situations.Directly working with reporters to secure, shape, and balance media coverage.Counseling Etsy execs on opportunities, risks, and overall positioning; preparing them for media interviews and speaking engagements.Leading large announcements, and drafting communications materials, including press releases, blogs, and executive comms.Working cross functionally with key partners, including investor relations, product marketing, trust & safety, policy, product, engineering, strategy & operations, HR and more to shape the company roadmap and ensure major efforts support and advance our strategic narrative.Collaborating with our community team to ensure we communicate with sellers in a way that is consistent with our corporate narrative.Ensuring a consistent and strong approach to corporate communications across Etsy’s House of Brands, which includes Etsy.com, Depop, and Reverb.Leading an internal team and external agency.Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:12-15 years of corporate communications experience working, including experience working in-house at public companies and in the tech and/or e-commerce sectors. A plus: Experience with a dual sided marketplace.Experience across media relations, financial communications, product and tech comms, executive visibility, crisis comms, impact and advocacy comms. Experience navigating marketplace policy issues and an evolving regulatory environment a plus.A love of storytelling and writing! Demonstrated experience as a skilled writer, tailoring style and tone based on the message, medium, and audience -- the ability to keep comms human, even when communicating corporate updates.Stellar media relations skills with direct reporter relationships. You have a high level of comfort building relationships with reporters and know how to shape stories behind the scenes as well as on the record.Strong judgment and the ability to counsel senior executives.To be a natural problem solver and able to find creative solutions to complex problems.Experience building a proactive, long-term plan while reacting and adapting to real time changes and shifting business priorities.To thrive in crisis situations and have experience with a range of corporate, customer, and social issues.To be accustomed to operating in highly-collaborative and matrixed environments working with many stakeholders; at the same time, you are able to work autonomously and feel empowered to make quick decisions.Strong management experience and a passion for developing extraordinary talent.Additional Information
