WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time

Lead Lighting Designer

to join our

Seattle, WA

lighting studio. Other locations will be considered.

The selected candidate will work with a team of lighting design experts in the WSP lighting studio who provide lighting solutions for commercial, healthcare, hotel, civic, cultural, stadiums, and educational facilities. The studio is dedicated to exploring and enhancing the user experience. By collaborating closely with client and design teams, as well as integrating with other specialty groups within WSP, the lighting studio provides inspired lighting solutions that leverage all project disciplines. From concept design to construction, the lighting team works closely with top-tier clients, internationally recognized Architects, Interior Designers, and Owners providing innovative, yet practical, lighting solutions – creating spaces that are inspiring, sustainable, and future-ready.

Your Impact

Manage day-to-day correspondence with project teams both internally and externally to coordinate and lead tasks amongst team members to meet upcoming project deadlines.

Assist with developing and implementing lighting design concepts through all phases of the design and construction process.

Assist the East Region lead with draft preparation of proposals and additional service requests when needed.

Review and/or prepare concept renderings, imagery, sketches, and presentations.

Review and/or develop lighting layouts prepared in Revit or CAD.

Review and/or perform lighting calculations, analysis, and rendering studies and use results to inform project decisions.

Develop luminaire and lighting control specifications and schedules.

Perform architectural and multi-disciplinary coordination including coordination of relevant mounting details.

Review of light fixture submittals/samples and preparation of RFI responses during the Construction phase of projects.

Review of light fixture installations and assistance with field aiming sessions and preparation of field observation reports.

Participation in and coordination of light fixture mock-ups.

Preparation of light fixture budgets and cost analysis to meet project budget goals.

Implement sustainable lighting design strategies and demonstrate code compliance.

Attend team and project meetings and interface with internal specialty groups.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

7+ years of experience in Lighting Design

Bachelor's Degree in Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, Architecture, or Lighting Design

Strong creative design skills

Knowledge of sustainable design strategies

Ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.

Strong attention to detail and highly organized.

Self-starter, ability to work independently, as well as manage multiple tasks.

Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, and AGI32 or similar lighting software

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, and resources; conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to render by hand.

Ability to render using Photoshop, Enscape, 3DS Max and InDesign

Working knowledge of energy codes, LEED and WELL Building Certification

Achieve discipline certification or license.

CompensationExpected Salary (all locations): $114,000 - $155,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
