In addition, we have many opportunities to engage with our community including staff chapel and a robust wellness program.Job Summary:The Health Promotion Specialist works collaboratively as a member of the medical, student care and counseling teams to provide a seamless continuum that supports each student’s academic achievement and holistic growth. The Health Promotion Specialist collaborates with Wellness Center staff; Student Care and Counseling Center staff; student leadership groups/clubs to create a campus culture that supports a healthy community and reduces barriers to health services.They will gather data via surveys and communicate evidence-based health promotion strategies to access a higher-education demographic focused on health conditions and behaviors that promote student success. This position is responsible for coordinating and completing university wide health promotion programs that function within a population health framework under the student life and formation department.The 20 hour position will be shared equally between Wellness medical and Student Care/Counseling.Salary:

Part timeJob Description:ResponsibilitiesIdentify goals and develop programs to address campus health needs, such as workshops, activities, fairs, and residence hall programs.Support students to develop healthy attitudes and behaviors by connecting them to health and wellness information and resources.Takes initiative to develop creative approaches to health education and outreach.Communicate student feedback to Wellness & Student Care & Counseling teams to ensure that our services reflect the needs of the population we serve.Develops and coordinates training activities for medical and counseling teams and other SLAF staff on various topics such as young adult health education, preventative health mental health and safety, and diversity.Works with and supervises graduate level students from various programs within PLNU to augment health promoting programming and foster applied learning.Provides a variety of health education and promotion services including presentations, educational and skills-based workshops, small group discussion/facilitation, and staff development projects.Gathers, compiles, and synthesizes information to develop effective health promotion communications for the college community, including web page materials and links; student health newsletters/online magazine; media screens, and printed materials for a diverse group of students incorporating social-norms marketing principles as appropriate.Coordinates with information technology and marketing/communications to maintain my PLNU app and website applications related to wellness and counseling services.Designs and conducts quantitative and qualitative research (e.g. survey development, focus group design and facilitation, data analysis and interpretation, write reports, etc).Collaborate with counseling services to develop mental health promotional material. The areas of mental health promotion related issues include, but are not limited, to the effects of Alcohol and other drugs; Stress and Anxiety along with its health promotional methods of management, Suicide awareness and prevention, by providing support and resources to meet their health education needs.Manage and grow Wellness Center and Counseling Center social media as a means of health promotion marketing.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.QualificationsExcellent computer skills and familiarity with Google suite applications and Canva.Use of telehealth or video conference platforms may be required in the performance of duties.Strong organizational and time management skills.Ability to contribute to the team effort in collaboration with wellness and student care/counseling initiatives.Knowledge of program planning, design, implementation, coordination and evaluation and large group event set-up.Design and analyze community evaluation studies pertaining to health programs or issues.Ability to evaluate programs and services, and track health trends in student health status and behaviors; plan and implement evidence based health promotion programs and services.Demonstrated program and project management skills.Must have excellent written, computer, and verbal communication skills.Must have decision-making, problem-solving, and prioritizing skills.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSA Bachelor's Degree in a health related field.Preferred Masters in Public Health or other healthcare related field.Experience in program development.Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement.
