This position is eligible for a total new hire incentive of $500. A new employee can earn a $500 new hire retention incentive after 6 months of successful employment with the City!The City of O'Fallon, MO is seeking a skilled and experienced Communications Manager to oversee the operations of our 24-hour online and cable television station and lead the video production efforts. This key leadership role supports the Director of Communications in managing the overall communications strategy of the City, ensuring that all media and public relations efforts align with the City's mission, vision, and values. The Communications Manager also steps in as the Acting Director of Communications when necessary. In this role, you can expect a starting salary of $76,003.20-$94,993.60.

Key Responsibilities:

Media Production Management: Supervise all aspects of media production, including live meeting and event coverage, studio and remote production, editing, graphics creation, program dissemination, scheduling, and program playback.

Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of media professionals, ensuring high-quality production and effective coverage of City meetings and special events.

Collaboration: Work with City departments, external entities, and staff to produce programs and materials that support the City's goals and objectives.

Acting Director Role: Assume the responsibilities of the Director of Communications in their absence, maintaining continuity in departmental operations and communications efforts.

Public Information Officer Backup: Serve as the backup public information officer, managing media inquiries and crisis communications as needed.

Support for Communications Director: Assist with key projects such as the production of newsletters, advertisements, website updates, social media content, and the preparation of speeches and presentations for senior leadership and elected officials.

Budget Assistance: Contribute to the development and management of the department's budget.

Technical Support: Oversee the research, purchasing, installation, and maintenance of all communications-related equipment and provide technical support to other departments.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Media Production, or a related field.

Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in communications or media production, with a minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory role preferred, or equivalent combination of education or experience.

Skills:

Expertise in live, studio, and remote media production and post-production techniques.

Strong understanding of public relations principles, including crisis communications.

Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in relevant software programs.

Strong leadership and project management skills.

Exceptional written and oral communication abilities, with experience in preparing and editing scripts, news articles, speeches, and reports.
