The Team

The Global Health Program (GH) harnesses advances in science and technology to save lives in low- and middle-income countries. We focus on the health problems that have an impact in developing countries but get too little attention and funding. Where proven tools exist, we support sustainable ways to improve their delivery. Where they do not, we invest in research and development of interventions, such as vaccines, drugs, and diagnostics. Our work focuses on strategies to fight and prevent HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, neglected tropical diseases, enteric and diarrheal diseases, and pneumonia.

Your Role

You develop and deploy sophisticated communications strategies that include media relations engagement, message development, editorial planning, and content creation skills, as well as regular writing for internal and external audiences. You provide communications counsel to programmatic colleagues, grantees, and partners, and work together to build awareness and support for the foundation's work and investments both nationally and in focus states. You have experience developing and leading a portfolio of grants and contracts that align with and support programmatic, policy, advocacy, and communications goals.

What You'll Do

Work with leaders and programmatic team to establish communication goals and strategies that will enable and support the program objectives.

Coordinate communications priorities and activities, maintain communications calendar and provide progress updates.

Provide updates to program teams on media coverage of foundation and grantee work as well as arrange media relations with journalists in priority outlets.

Coordinate and engage with colleagues across the foundation to accelerate communication efforts in support of the program priorities.

Work closely with the communications earned media lead to respond to media inquiries and develop proactive media engagement opportunities.

Work closely with development partners to build a collaborative narrative around foundation program issues in country.

Provide in-country communication support to elevate priority issues and lead issues that may be reputational risks for the foundation.

Develop core communications material and collateral (e.g. monthly newsletters, key messages, website copy, brochures, video content, director remarks, and briefing materials).

Lead vendor work in service of grantee communications projects and engage with communication partners/vendors.

Develop messaging and support director speaking and media opportunities.

Develop and coordinate communications grants and contracts to advance program priorities.

Support inclusive culture through modeling behaviors and actions; escalate issues in a timely fashion to appropriate partners.

Your Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent demonstrated experience.

Mastery level knowledge in communications strategic development, planning, and execution.

Demonstrated expertise in managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.

Experience in non-profit, advocacy, or political communications.
