Apply your knowledge of science and topics that the chemistry community cares about to develop high-impact, scientifically accurate content.

Own the audience function on social media and keep up with the topics and events that our audience is talking about.

Create and maintain a comprehensive calendar for social media to ensure timely and relevant publication of content and campaigns.

Proactively collaborate with partners to create effective content and campaigns that will resonate with our social media audiences.

Set up listening stations to monitor social media trends and audience engagement, creating a feedback loop to inform and adapt content strategies quickly and effectively.

Advise and support partners in producing clean, creative copy that is free from grammatical errors and consistent with the ACS brand.

Set and achieve performance targets that support the organization's audience strategy. Provide regular and timely reporting and insights.

Champion social media as an engagement tool by coaching and advising staff on how to engage effectively and professionally.

Skills, Education, & Experience:

A college degree in chemistry or closely related scientific field is required.

5+ years' experience in social media channel management in a marketing, journalism or communications environment.

Demonstrated success running social media campaigns (paid and/or organic) on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X.

Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements and report on the outcome.

Experience working in a busy environment, demonstrating the ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines.

A self-starter with the ability to work well within a team and collaborate across the organization to achieve business goals.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.

A solutions-focused mindset with the ability to pivot quickly.

The ACS Communications Division employees work a hybrid schedule, consisting of working onsite two days per work, as decided by functional area. The balance of the week is open to working remotely, though employees are always welcome onsite each day if they choose.

This role is based in our Washington, D.C. office. A reasonable rate of compensation for this position is between $92,000-124,000 per year.
