Engineering Manager - UI Standards

FactSet is looking for a talented software engineering manager to lead the UI Standards team, part of the Application Infrastructure department within the Platform Infrastructure Engineering horizontal. UI Standards is a shared infrastructure team focused on providing developers with the tools to create modern and consistent user interfaces for their applications. As the manager for this team, you would increase developer efficiency across the company, leading to better solutions for our clients. Some of the projects that we work on to achieve this goal are:

All the relevant skills, qualifications and experience that a successful applicant will need are listed in the following description.Design system implemented in Vue.jsRich tabular data displays and virtualizationData visualization and chartingIn this role, you will:Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, ensuring they have the necessary guidance, support, and resources to deliver high-quality software.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, open-source developers and other stakeholders, to understand business requirements, define project scope, and ensure quality standards are met.Drive the end-to-end software development lifecycle, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.Provide hands-on technical expertise and guidance in designing, developing, and implementing software solutions using TypeScript and Vue.js.Conduct regular code reviews to maintain code quality, adhere to best practices, and ensure compliance with coding standards.Stay up to date with emerging web development technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on the team’s projects and making recommendations accordingly.Over time, you will find opportunities to impact the larger FactSet engineering community. For example, by working to enhance web development standards and best practices, or other cross-team working groups, you will have visibility into how FactSet’s teams make decisions and the ability to present your perspective.Minimum Requirements:3 years of experience working professionally as a Software Developer building web applications.Management experience for a team of 6-8 engineers.Experience using JavaScript, TypeScript and a modern web framework such as Vue or React.Critical/Desired Skills:In-depth knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).Strong fundamental knowledge of HTML, CSS, JS, and WAI-ARIA in the browser.Experience with build tools and server-side JS in NodeJS.Experience with automated testing including browser-based tests for accessibility.Experience with CI/CD automation and at least one cloud provider.Experience with Scrum, Kanban or Agile software development in general.Additional Skills:A passion to provide value by enabling other developers.Experience working with or contributing to open-source projects.Education:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related technical field or equivalent experience.At FactSet, we celebrate diversity of thought, experience, and perspective.
