Marymount School is seeking a dedicated, talented, and collaborative Technical Director (TD) to join our performing arts team and supervise the technical operation of our state-of-the-art 300-seat proscenium theater. The TD must manage complex scheduling and collaborate with all theater faculty and designers to coordinate lighting, scenic and sound elements for approximately fifteen productions. Reporting directly to the Director of Performing Arts, the TD will collaborate regularly with the school’s music and drama faculty, along with the IT and facilities teams.

This is a 12-month staff position, with hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., in addition to nights and weekends necessary for rehearsals/performances.Responsibilities include:Supervising and supporting daily AV needs for all school events in the theater.Overseeing the general maintenance and safe use of the theater, assuring the proper maintenance of equipment, maintaining necessary supplies, and facilitating production needs.Coordinating load-ins and strikes for all theater events; analyzing scenic design drafts, managing production build schedules, contributing to scenic and prop construction and ensuring all scenic elements are completed in a timely manner and within budget.Participating in all production meetings and being present on site for all school productions and events in the theater.Implementing and maintaining best practices in the use and maintenance of theater equipment and facilities.QualificationsA bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of professional experience in technical theater is required.A master’s degree in Technical Theatre Production and experience in academia is preferred.Strong technical abilities and a vision for set design, lighting design, and theatrical production; experience sound design is a plus.Deep knowledge of the history of theatrical design and stagecraft.Passion for working with students from 6th to 12th grade, including both teaching and mentoring student designers.Physical requirements include lifting, balancing, crouching, climbing, and working from great heights.
