We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Design Project Manager to spearhead the design efforts for large capital projects focused on reducing wildfire risks. This critical role will involve overseeing contractors responsible for detailed designs, including covered wire installations and proactive undergrounding initiatives.As a Lead Design Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring all design submittals align with PGE's standards and preferences. Your expertise will be vital in providing daily guidance and resolving complex design challenges that arise throughout the project lifecycle.**What you’ll do:**+ Lead and manage the design efforts for contractors on large capital projects aimed at mitigating wildfire risk.+ Oversee detailed design reviews, ensuring adherence to PGE's standards and best practices.+ Provide daily direction and problem-solving for complex design challenges.+ Serve as the primary liaison from project initiation to final closure, managing customer connections and construction designs.+ Offer specialized expertise in transmission and distribution project management, delivering innovative solutions to complex problems.+ Work independently, with guidance in only the most challenging situations, and may lead functional teams or projects.**What you bring:**+ Extensive experience in transmission and distribution project management, particularly in wildfire risk mitigation or related fields.+ Proven ability to solve complex problems with a broad perspective, identifying innovative and effective solutions.+ Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams or large-scale projects.+ In-depth knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.+ Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including contractors, customers, and internal teams.Responsibilities+ **Project Management** Manages multiple projects of high complexity and all types (e.g., streetlighting, large and small residential, commercial, industrial customers, system maintenance work and road-widening projects) of varying size and at varying steps within the project process; delivers project results that provide timely, effective, reliable and workable construction designs and customer connections.+ **Design Production** Conducts or supervises complex technical analyses and prepares or oversees the preparation of complete designs using current design technology resources, including design software, drawings, material lists, design specifications, material specifications, corporate accounting, cost estimates, easements, permits, service requirements and line-extension agreements. Responsible for design decisions that reflect a cost-effective, reliable, safe, constructible/maintainable transmission and distribution system.+ **Project Execution** Accountable for ensuring all steps of the project process are completed, considering timeliness and responsiveness to internal or external customers; effectively prioritizes and balances multiple tasks and projects to meet customer expectations; interprets and coordinates work with other PGE departments to fulfill project requirements; works independently and frequently serves in a lead and/or mentoring role for other project team members. Fulfills project requirements consistent with company tariff, design standards, NESC requirements and applicable codes.+ **Customer Care** Serves as the primary point of contact on all assigned projects from first contact to final closing; consults with customers to identify requirements and translates them into design and service connection solutions consistent with tariff, company standards, requirements and applicable codes.+ **Leadership and Consultation** Serves as company subject matter expert and provides coaching, training and feedback to other team members; may assign and direct work; may monitor work and provide guidance for escalated issues; may support manager in departmentwide planning and budgeting.QualificationsRequired:+ **Education** Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, computer-assisted design or other related field or equivalent experience.+ **Experience** Typically eight or more years in utility operations or a related field.+ **Valid Driver's License required**Preferred:+ Experience with large undergrounding projects+ Experience with working with consultants on design projects+ Advanced knowledge and application of all company standards and tariffs, company policy, applicable codes and local jurisdiction requirements.+ Advanced knowledge of common engineering concepts and principles.+ Advanced knowledge of PGE’s electrical system.+ Intermediate knowledge of transmission and distribution standards and practices.+ Intermediate knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and National Electrical Code (NEC).+ Basic knowledge of PGE’s organization, finance, budget, human resources and administrative procedures.+ Working skills in using computer design tools, including structural analysis, electric analysis, work management and GIS.+ Advanced ability to apply complex engineering and design concepts, PGE and industry standards and governing codes.+ Intermediate ability to use project management concepts and skills in planning and executing projects.+ Intermediate ability to effectively plan, organize, design, coordinate and manage multiple projects with changing timelines at different stages of the connection process.+ Intermediate ability to work collaboratively in a teamwork environment with internal customers.Physical and Cognitive Demands:+ Consistent use of logic or scientific thinking to define problems, collect information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions (for example, engineer, HR director, plant manager, etc.).+ Cognitive Ability to adhere to set response times, deadlines and time-sensitive tasks+ Ability to follow accuracy standards+ Ability to follow through on decision-making tasks+ Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively within a team environment+ Ability to communicate and problem solve when under stress+ Ability to respond and adapt to frequent change+ Ability to accept and demonstrate self-awareness when provided constructive feedback+ Ability to discern feedback and acknowledge ownership of areas of improvement+ Ability to avoid future mistakes by applying reasonable skills to new but similar work situations or tasks+ Ability to successfully collaborate with peers, managers and others within the organization+ Demonstrates sound memory+ Ability to process new information to be applied consistently to work taskSchedule/Attendance+ Ability to work long hours+ Ability to work a variable schedule+ Ability to report to work and perform work during periods of severe inclement weather+ Ability to consistently meet attendance standards for regular, reliable, predictable, full-time attendance+ Confined spaces+ Walking distances and surfaces (long distances and over rough, uneven or rocky surfaces)+ Stairs (over 10 steps)+ Ladders (over 10 rungs)Physical Capabilities+ Driving/travel/commute: Daily within service territory+ Computer use (use computer regularly for entire work shift)+ Lifting/pushing/pulling: Up to 10 lbs.+ Carrying: Up to 10 lbs.+ Unstable surfaces requiring balance (i.e., moving equipment, boats) (check all that apply):Environment - Indoor/Outdoor :+ Office+ Plant+ FieldPGE supports hybrid flexible work arrangements; and will have a combination of in-the-office and working offsite.
