Sleep Lab Department.Responsible for the preparation of patients, collection of information pertinent to the test, performance of the requested test, and interpretation of the recording for the purpose of informing a physician of critical problems and/or writing an informal preliminary report.Essential Job FunctionsExplains procedure and prepares patient for requested testObtains relevant information and a patient history from the patient, patients chart or referring physicianPerforms routine polysomnogramsPerforms CPAP/BiPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) titrationsPerforms complex or special montage electroencephalographic or polysomnography recordings during all night evaluationsPerforms the specified test and interprets the recording for the purpose of informing a physician of critical problemsWrites an informal preliminary report for physicians use onlyUses video-monitoring equipment to obtain quality taping of patients nocturnal activityMakes appropriate calibrations to the equipment for standard recordingsKeeps equipment clean and in good operating condition, detects instrument malfunctions and notifies Chief Technologist of any problemsScores sleep records as requiredAssists Supervisor in teaching polysomnographic techniques to the residents and fellowsPlays a role in the general flow and operation of the Sleep Lab including all paperwork (billing, logging, patient files), quality of recordings and patient satisfactionPerforms other duties as requested by senior managementRequired QualificationsMinimum of a High School diploma in addition to a registration certificate in Polysomnographic TechnologyMust be CPR certifiedRegistered Respiratory Therapist will also qualifyMust have knowledge in these areas:CPAP/BiPAPParasomniasMSLTsO2/CO2Preferred QualificationsGraduate from an accredited 2-year program in Electroneuro diagnostics.Minimum of four years experience (including clinical) in the field of sleep disorders.Position DetailsJob Type/FTE: Full-time (0.90FTE)Shift: Nights - 7:00pm - 7:30amUnit/Department: Sleep LabCBA Code: Non-UnionNo Visa Sponsorship AvailableIn this role, we anticipate that you will generally work approximately 36 hours per week. We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work 12hr shifts, from approximately 7:00pm - 7:30am and will not be scheduled for on-call shifts.
