Job Description

The RISC-V Marketing Director will play a crucial role in advancing RISC-V's mission by developing and executing marketing strategies that drive member engagement and success, amplification of RISC-V adoption via multiple channels, online content cultivation, membership growth, educational program engagement, and successful global and local events. This role is designed for a seasoned marketing professional with deep expertise in semiconductor technologies and an understanding of the unique needs of community driven organizations. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the CEO of RISC-V International, its Board, and key stakeholders. The role will lead and coordinate with community stakeholders and committees, Linux Foundation central marketing and other teams to achieve key outcomes.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Marketing Leadership: Develop and implement a marketing strategy that aligns with RISC-V's mission and revenue goals, focusing on member engagement and success, amplification of RISC-V adoption via multiple channels, online content cultivation, membership growth, and successful global and local events.Membership Growth: Drive initiatives to increase membership within the RISC-V Foundation, crafting messaging and campaigns that highlight the benefits of joining the RISC-V community. Work closely with the CEO, community stakeholders, and central LF marketing team to leverage membership growth/ churn best practices, tools, and insights with organizational goals.Event Leadership: Collaborate with community stakeholders, Committees, agencies, and central LF marketing and events teams to cultivate high value global, regional, and local events leveraging industry best practices and revenue ownership to secure sponsorships and drive attendance for RISC-V events. Ensure these events align with the strategic goals of RISC-V and deliver a high return on investment.Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with member stakeholders and committees, Board members, event sponsors, the CEO and related LF and agency teams to gather insights and feedback that inform marketing strategies.Thought Leadership & Advocacy: Position RISC-V as a leader in the semiconductor space by developing thought leadership content, including white papers, webinars, and speaking engagements. Advocate for RISC-V's mission and values within the industry.Leverage Linux Foundation central Marketing: Work closely with the Linux Foundation's central marketing function for best practices, Martech, tools, resources, and expertise to maximize RISC-V's reach and impact.Content Development: Lead creation of high-quality content that supports RISC-V's strategic objectives, including case studies, blogs, and educational materials. Ensure consistency and cohesion across all platforms and communications.Lead Digital strategy including website and developer experience together with community stakeholders, centralized LF IT and creative teams, and additional stakeholders as relevant. Align social platforms, messaging, and campaigns together with appropriate stakeholders and centralized teams.Analyst and Public Relations (PR): Manage public relations efforts to enhance RISC-V's visibility and reputation within the industry. Work with PR agencies and the Linux Foundation's PR team to coordinate press releases, media outreach, and response to public inquiries.Reporting & Analytics: Establish and track key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of marketing initiatives. Drive monthly reporting on qualitative and quantitative results with RISC-V Board, Committees, and stakeholders. Align with centralized Martech tools and resources to leverage best practices Use data-driven insights to refine strategies and improve outcomes.Coordinate marketing functions across team, agencies, member organizations, and Linux Foundation teams (e.g., events, PR, creative services, web services, LF IT, sales, and program management teams) Orchestrate work with external partners (e.g. agencies, storefront, local community platform, video, and other companies) as neededLead Certification brand value work together with Certification Steering Committee and related stakeholders to include relevant market research.Key Performance Indicators

Membership Growth: Increase in the number of new members joining the RISC-V Foundation while reducing the churn of existing membersEvent Success including Sponsorship, Attendance, Satisfaction and Revenue: Amount of sponsorship secured and revenue generated from RISC-V events.Stakeholder Satisfaction: Positive feedback from the Board, CEO, and community stakeholders on the effectiveness of marketing efforts.Content Performance: Engagement metrics for thought leadership content, including downloads, shares, and media mentions.PR Impact: Media mentions, coverage quality, and the effectiveness of press releases and public responses in enhancing RISC-V's brand visibility.Coordination Effectiveness: Successful alignment and coordination with the Linux Foundation's central marketing team, reflected in the execution of joint initiatives and campaigns.Qualifications

Technology Marketing Expertise: 10+ years of progressive experience in technology marketing, with a preferred background in semiconductor technologies or related fields.Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the semiconductor or related industry, including key players, market dynamics, and technology trends.Collaboration & Leadership: Proven ability to work closely with executive leadership, boards, and community stakeholders in a highly collaborative environment.Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messaging for diverse audiences. Exemplary interpersonal skills to engage the contributions, insights, and support of the community and navigate competing priorities and perspectives.Experience managing comms including AR/PR, messaging, and related agency relationshipsExperience in conference and event managementExperience in digital marketing, social, CRM, and related toolsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, technology, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is preferred.Preferred: Experience working within open-source communities or standards bodies, with a focus on advocacy and community engagement.

This position is employed by the Linux Foundation as a full-time role, dedicated 100% to RISC-V International. The Linux Foundation provides general management and operational services to RISC-V International to enable best in class operations and leadership support for RISC-V and its employees.
