This is an outstanding opportunity for motivated individuals to influence John Hancock’s approach to personalized insurance.ResponsibilitiesWork cross-functionally and collaboratively with teams across John Hancock to craft and complete experiments to determine optimal customer segmentation and evaluate the impact of interventions and policies on different populations.Apply thorough experimental design methods and sampling strategies for efficient outcomes, having sufficient statistical power and reduced impact of sample and measurements bias or other confounding factors.Measure and extract signal from experiments using statistical and machine learning techniques, capturing heterogeneous treatment effects or other causal relationships.Build and validate population segments and models with data and input from subject matter expert input.Communicate findings and recommendations to partners and clients using clear and compelling visualizations and reports.Collaborate with cross-functional teams of data engineers, product managers, domain experts, and experimentalists.What motivates you?You obsess about customers, listen, engage and act for their benefit.You think big, with curiosity to discover ways to use your agile approach and enable business outcomes.You thrive in teams and enjoy getting things done together.You take ownership and build solutions, focusing on what matters.You do what is right, work with integrity and speak up.You share your humanity, helping us build a diverse and inclusive work environment for everyone.What we are looking forPhD, Master's Degree + 2 years' experience OR Bachelor's Degree + 4 years' applied statistics, behavioral economics, political health/cognitive/social/political sciences, or relevant domains.The ideal candidate has knowledge of healthcare claims, clinical interventions, health outcomes, population health, psychographic segmentation.Advanced programming experience in Python, R, SQL or similar in creating analysis, projections, models, and presentations to support business.Skilled in statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms and confidence estimation.Skilled in experimental design including sampling methods, post adjustment and bias analysis.Experience in developing, maintaining, and collecting structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting.Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Curious, creative, and problem-solving approach.What can we offer you?A competitive salary and benefits packages.A growth trajectory that extends upward and outward, encouraging you to follow your passions and learn new skills.A focus on growing your career path with us.Flexible work policies and strong work-life balance.Professional development and leadership opportunities.Our commitment to youValues-first culture:

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
