What You'll Do in This Position

Develop and manage communications plans and provide communications consultation for assigned SRNS Divisions and provide day to day support in internal/external communications efforts. This includes research, conceptualization, composition and implementation of plans for special events, programs, campaigns, etc., design and development of brochures, surveys, or other means to disseminate or gather information to/from customers, employees, or external agencies. This position also provides regular communications support to concerning sitewide information, programs, etc. Also creates and writes various media articles for internal and external dissemination.

Designing broad communications strategies tailored to specific divisions (perhaps multiple) site programs, projects, and events. In support of customers, expected to design a customer approved internal communication plan relating to either a sitewide program, or design an approved departmental policy or system relating to internal communication process or procedures; or, design a customer approved media plan to publicize a significant site program or activity; or, design a customer approved plan, a departmental policy or process relating to stakeholder participation campaigns. Conceptualize, research, develop and write specific communications pieces for utilization in internal and external media. Develop wide array of communications vehicles to support a central theme or strategy could almost be considered an intact marketing plan for a program/project/concept/event. Attain employee and/or public feedback and points of view on critical divisional site issues and perceptions; communicate those perceptions accurately to upper management for response. Promotional planning and placement of "good news" information on SRS with news media and the public in general. In consultation with senior management, develop talking points to be used in employee and/or public presentations. Plan, produce, and coordinate special briefings, tours, and presentations for the general public and visiting VIPs. Provide consultation for communications issues for management and employees. May support and guide departmental level communicators within assigned division(s). May be heavily involved with external organizations on a regular basis, such as various public involvement initiatives. May be required to act in behalf of company in confrontational situations, or dealing with non routine or potentially controversial subject matter. May be required to participate as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) Team.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications We Require

High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent State Credential

Qualifications We Desire

College degree in communications, English, Journalism or other bachelor degree with a concentration or minor in one of these areas preferred.Experience working with group and/or public.Good computer skills.Excellent writing/editing abilities, creative thinking and quick decision making.

Ability to "think on one's feet".Information management skills in utilizing communications tools (software, hardware, presentation packages), and design of basic presentations, publications and/or advertising materials.Ability to organize and manage multiple activities simultaneously is critical.Understanding of Site's organizational structure and missions is critical, as is an understanding of regulatory framework governing site operations.Depending upon assignment, ability to obtain and maintain Emergency Response Organization team certification.Depending upon assignment, public speaking training may be preferred.
