SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Grant Writer collaborates with the Director and Grant Manager to develop high-quality, mission-driven proposals and reports. They identify funding opportunities and ensure timely submission of grants to support equitable healthcare access in Wyandotte County, Kansas. The role focuses on writing effective proposals and reports to secure funding from diverse sources.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Research and identify mission-aligned grant funding opportunities to develop new and sustain existing programs.Develop and write compelling and competitive grant proposals, ensuring alignment withapplication guidelines and organizational priorities.Manage the grant proposal calendar and submission process, ensuring all deadlines are met and proposals are submitted on time.Maintain relationships with assigned external grant managers and program officers, acting asthe primary point of contact for inquiries and updates.Prepare and submit detailed reports to funders, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and deadlines.Maintain accurate records of grant submissions, tracking progress and documenting allnecessary information electronically in shard database.Coordinate the implementation of grant awards, ensuring post-award compliance with all grant requirements.Support organizational goals through special projects and additional responsibilities asassigned by the Director of Population Health and Grants.Assist with all other duties assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Bachelor’s degree in social services, public administration, public health, business, or related field; or equivalent work experience.Two years non-profit grant writing experience, preferably with a health-focused organization.Experience with federal, state and foundation grant applications and reporting requirements.Exceptional writing skills with demonstrated ability to read, comprehend, digest, explain and create compelling funding arguments using analysis of technical, scientific, social-science, clinical, and medical data.Strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.), Adobe, and virtual meeting tools (e.g., Microsoft TEAMS), and familiarity with grant management systems.Demonstrated ability to multi-task, be flexible, ensure accuracy, and meet changing priorities.Ability to work well in both a team-based environment and independently.Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Vibrant Health’s mission and values.Individual must:Develop rapport with patients and their families, community and other health care personnel.Exhibit a professional and respectful demeanor.Work successfully independently and within a team, shifting tasks, prioritize tasks, problem-solve daily, and complete work within deadline.Demonstrate excellent customer service, helpfulness, and a positive attitude.Possess superior organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.Demonstrate the ability to recognize, understand, and appreciate the value of cultural diversity.Demonstrate social and cultural sensitivity to ethnically and economically diverse patients and staff.Exhibit experience and working knowledge of local community resources.Hold current drivers’ license with an acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation.Travel to all parts of the facility and throughout the community.Will be required to have current CPR certification, which can be provided through Vibrant Health if needed.Proficiency in use of personal computers and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel).

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Experience with a Federally Qualified Health Center or Safety Net Clinic and solid knowledge of primary health care, behavioral health and/or dental services.Experience as a lead write on at least one federal and/or state/regional grant application.Americans with Disability Specifications

Must have manual dexterity and experience to perform handwritten paperwork, recordkeeping, and filing.Prolonged sitting, standing, or walking may be required.Frequent bending/stooping, squatting, reaching above the shoulders, twisting and turning, kneeling, and pushing/pulling may be required.Employment is contingent upon successful clearance from Criminal, Kansas and Missouri Child/Elder Abuse and Neglect, Sex Offender background investigations, TB testing, pre-employment drug testing, and verification of Hepatitis-B, flu and COVID-19 immunizations.Occasional evening and weekend availability are required.
