Marketing & Merchandising Specialist (Full Time)

Department: Marketing

Reports To:

Marketing Manager

Pay Class B Wage Range: $22.29 - $27.83 per hour

Job Summary:

The Marketing & Merchandising Specialist role is a fused role between merchandising and advertising. Part of the time this role will be focused on product displays, running product performance, and ensuring that store signage/graphics are up to standard. The other part of the role will be responsible for supporting the marketing manager on marketing advertisements across print and digital mediums. This role strongly prefers someone with experience or education related to analyzing data, social media and someone who is adaptable, pays close attention to detail, and can balance various projects with ease

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

MarketingPrint ads

Bi-Weekly ad/mailer:

Plan editorial calendar for our bi-weekly ad including featured brands/stories, recipes, and any holiday themesWork with department managers to identify items to place on ad/on saleIdentify opportunities to prioritize featured merchandise based on inventory or sales targetEnsure all needed information is submitted by department managers on time including information that will aid in purchasing decisions such as whether items are local, regenerative, etc.Work across marketing team to obtain any needed additional information featured on ad such as recipes or farm story/imageryQA (review) proof provided by graphic designer to ensure accuracy in information and grammarTrack effectiveness of ad on our KPI (key performance indicators) tracker and run reports with data specialist as needed

Postcard Mailers:

Work closely with marketing manager to create a quarterly mailer calendarIdentify new zip codes to target and content to optimize ROI and track effectiveness such as a coupon strategyWork with graphic designer to make design requests andMonitor KPIs related to items/brands/coupons featured and non- member customer count

Possibilities

Stay up to date with ad trends and identify new advertising opportunitiesCreate proposals

Digital Ads

Work with Marketing Manager to create a digital ad calendar for each quarter and to prioritize messaging testWork with greater marketing team to understand goals and opportunities and create campaigns to meet goalsWork with team members who manage social media to generate videos or graphics for adsTrack performance of digital ads across platformsA/B test variations within campaigns to ensure optimization of spendIdentify best performing ads and messaging that is resonating and bring back to team for integrationMonitor ad KPIs and leverage data to make decisions; generate case study reports to present to the greater team, as needed

2. Merchandising

Product Display and Presentation:

Working closely with Marketing Manager to identify objectives and goals for displaysUnderstanding /learning customer shopping behavior and department managers objectives with promotional products they need placed on end capsMake recommendations during merchandising meeting and during change over on presentation and cross merchandisingDesign and maintain visually appealing product displays. Starting with end caps then expanding to highlighting sections of aisles.Ensure that all products are presented according to store guidelines and seasonal themes.

Aisle Management:

Monitor stock levels and alert department managers or staff when items need to be replenished or logged as shrinkAnalyze cleanliness /dust level of shelves, identify a person who is available to address it, help if you have some down time

Sales Analysis and Strategy:

Analyze sales data to determine the effectiveness of products and merchandising strategies.Work closely and collaboratively with our Data Specialist to run reports and analyze data. Form decisions and interpretations together to create action items and form hypothesis to test,Develop and implement promotional displays and signage to increase product visibility and sales.Collaborate with the marketing team to execute store-wide promotions and events.

Customer Service Extraordinaire:

Lead by example, strive to provide the best customer service to customersGreet each customer with a smile even if some ignore and be helpful with guidance, recommendations, and information.Gather customer feedback to improve product placement and store layout.Ensure that aisles and displays are easily accessible and not obstructed.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure all merchandising activities comply with health and safety regulations.Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.Follow company policies and procedures for product handling and display.

Training and Development:

Train and mentor new staff on merchandising standards and best practices.Stay updated on industry trends and pitch new display ideas/signage to teamAttend relevant training sessions and workshops.

3. Abide by all DFC policy and procedures as specified in the DFC Employee Handbook.

4. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Previous experience with social media, advertising, general marketing, data analysis, or a related field is a plus. If you are analytical, great with excel formulas, and have a passion for human behavior, we are open to training you. Must be a fast learner and solution oriented. A plus if you also have experience at a grocery store and/or merchandising.
