Looking to use your creative and branding skills to make an impact? The American Optometric Association (AOA) is seeking a talented Graphic Design Specialist to join our Communications and Marketing team!

PurposeIn this role, you will be a key contributor to our mission of delivering high-quality, on-brand, and on-message visual and multimedia collateral that promotes the AOA, its membership, and its initiatives. The Graphic Design Specialist will play a pivotal role in championing the AOA’s brand by maintaining a consistent visual and graphic identity across all content, and targeting multiple audiences, with a focus on creating engaging visual elements, including marketing and communications materials, as well as other digital and print assets. Key Responsibilities

Serves as the AOA brand champion by maintaining a consistent and cohesive visual identity across all media by adhering to brand guidelines.Provides detailed feedback as a brand and design subject matter expert on ways the AOA, its groups and/or initiatives may improve their visual content.Collaborate directly with AOA staff to understand their vision and objectives, ensuring the creation of high-quality visual media that aligns with AOA's brand criteria and stakeholder needs. This involves attending cross-functional meetings to gather direction for compelling collateral and presentations, such as PDFs, logos, infographics, social media imagery, emails, websites, and slides.Create dynamic design elements, including motion graphics, video, and GIFs, for various platforms.Collaborate directly with marketing and communications staff to develop visual storytelling assets, such as infographics or visual social media content, that can further support the AOA’s content strategy.Coordinate design processes from end to end, proactively communicating project status, needs, and questions to ensure that goals and deadlines are met. This includes gathering information, seeking feedback, editing, securing approval, producing final products, and guiding print orders when necessary.Ensure the creative direction of multi-channel content campaigns aligns with the AOA's desired objectives with consistency.Maintain a graphics database and a library of graphics for version control, ensuring accessibility for the team. Evaluate the database for improvements and efficiency.Explore innovative and engaging ways to visually communicate the AOA's story. Share your design perspective with project teams and develop best practices for design on social media, email, and web platforms.Our Ideal Candidate

3-5 years of experience as a graphic designer successfully working within company branding guidelines to create on-brand visual content, such as logo treatments, PDFs, email and website assets, social media imagery, PowerPoint slides, trade show signage, etc.Masters graphic software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Sketch, and Invision to create digital media.Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design or related field required. Equivalent work experience in graphic design is acceptable in lieu of a degree.Proven collaborator with a history of working amongst diverse teams to execute graphic design projects smoothly and effectively across multiple marketing channels required.Track record of successfully building and/or converting graphic designs or concepts into the correct format and image sizes for multiple uses such as email, social media, website, etc.Strong working knowledge of design principles, print design, typography, photography, videography, and animation.Advanced in graphic publications such as Adobe Creative Cloud, with emphasis on Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Sketch, Acrobat Pro+ and Invision.Proficient in Office 365.Previous experience with HTML/CSS is a plus.Experience with Asana or other project management platforms would be beneficial.
