Job Title: Media & Climate Specialist

Department: Office of the Superintendent

Reports to: Superintendent

Position Overview: The Media & Climate Specialist is a dynamic connector between the Office of the Superintendent and the broader community. This multifaceted role is crucial for enhancing the visibility and efficacy of the Districts' initiatives through robust community relations, media engagement, and strong administrative support. The Specialist is responsible for managing digital communications, fostering community relations, and providing crucial support to the Superintendent, with a strong focus on media relations, photography, and graphic design. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement:

Serve as a liaison between the school district and the public.Organize outreach programs and initiatives that promote community involvement in school activities.Social Media and Communications:

Manage the district's social media platforms, ensuring regular updates that engage the community and reflect the district's mission and goals.Develop and disseminate engaging content such as newsletters, press releases, blog posts, and multimedia materials, including website content and design.Media Relations and Content Creation:

Serve as the primary media contact, developing relationships with media outlets, employees, and public interest groups.Use photography and graphic design skills to create visually appealing content for various media outlets, supporting the Superintendent's and District's communication strategies.Administrative Support:

Provide direct administrative support to the Superintendent and other departments, including managing schedules, organizing events, developing correspondence, and preparing documents for school board meetings.Assist in the preparation and distribution of materials for board meetings and other official functions.Ensure efficient organization and confidentiality of sensitive information.Liaison Duties:

Act as a liaison between the community, Superintendent's Office, schools, and other departments, enhancing communication and coordination with key stakeholders.Facilitate partnerships with external entities, fostering opportunities for collaboration and support.Required Skills and Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field is preferred.Minimum of three to five years of experience in communications, public relations, education, or a related role, with a strong emphasis on media relations.Demonstrated skills in photography and graphic design with a portfolio of work.Proficient in using digital media platforms, graphic design software (such as Canva Adobe Creative Suite), and photography equipment.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.High level of discretion and ethical judgment in handling confidential information.Desired Attributes:

Primarily in an office setting, but it requires mobility at events where photography and live posting may be necessary.Occasional need to attend evening or weekend eventsAbility to lift up to 15 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.

This is a full-time, 12-month, non-union position.

Salary range: $55,000 to $69,500 annually
