Communications Director

to lead our strategic communications efforts and amplify our research, policy recommendations, and advocacy work. Their portfolio will focus primarily on developing and implementing a comprehensive communications plan that effectively reaches and engages diverse audiences, including policymakers, media, donors, and the public.The ideal candidate will have a passion for translating complex policy issues into compelling, accessible content, and a proven track record in media relations, digital communications, and strategic planning. They will report to the Executive Director and work with a dedicated team of colleagues who research and advocate for an economy that works for everyone.Who We Are:

Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with EOI's mission and goals, create annual and project-specific communications plans, identify target audiences, and evaluate and report on the effectiveness of communications initiatives.Earned Media and Media Relations:

Serve as EOI's primary media contact, cultivate relationships with journalists, draft and distribute press releases, and prepare EOI leadership for media interviews.Content Development and Management:

Build a sector-leading newsletter program, oversee content creation, write and edit articles, and manage EOI's website content.Digital and Social Media Strategy:

Develop social media strategies, oversee EOI's social media presence, analyze metrics, and explore innovative digital tools.Development Support:

Support fundraising communications and ensure alignment with Community Centric Fundraising principles.Who You Are & Keys to Success (the must-haves):Commitment to progressive public policy issues and EOI's mission.Understanding of racial equity and the ability to deepen a racial justice approach to communications.Collaborative and people-centered workplace culture.Ability to learn and apply strategic communications principles.Experience and Skills:A minimum of five years of successful communications experience.Experience in strategic communications planning, media relations, content creation, digital marketing, and social media strategy.Strong relationship-building and communication skills.High level of organization and ability to manage multiple projects.Fluency in spoken and written English; familiarity with Washington State politics is a bonus.Compensation, Benefits, and Work EnvironmentCompensation:

This is a full-time salaried position with a salary range of $101,646 to $119,646, depending on experience.Benefits:

Paid leave, paid holidays, employer-paid medical and dental benefits, 403(b) retirement plan, and eligibility for a sabbatical after 5 years.Work Environment:

Most work will be conducted remotely with some in-office hours required. A typical work week is 40 hours, with flexible schedules available.To Apply:
