Our teams of highly skilled engineers and designers use cutting-edge software and technology to enhance the driving experience and reduce environmental impact.Mercedes-Benz Research and Development North America is seeking a Creative Automotive Designer to join the Advanced Exterior Design Team located in Carlsbad, CA. In this role, the ideal candidate will contribute to Advanced and Production Design projects, create innovative sketches and renderings, and deliver design presentations to a broad audience. Depending on experience, this position can be leveled as a Senior Creative Automotive Designer with additional expectations to design and develop new vehicle concepts in conjunction with the Mercedes-Benz corporate identity and strategy.Job Responsibilities:

Create 2D ideas and concepts through sketching and rendering that communicate innovative design solutions.Direct the development of clay scale and hard modeling.Conduct project research to monitor future design trends and benchmark competition.Prepare and deliver design presentations to management using 2D rendering techniques.Stay up to date on automotive engineering and aerodynamics.Provide administrative support to Senior and Principal Designers and Modelers to foster creativity.Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Automotive, Product or Industrial Design.2+ years of relevant work experience.Strong sketching and rendering skills.Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.Team oriented and thrives in a team environment.Embraces leadership at all levels and can be called upon to be tasked with managerial duties as assigned.Knowledge of engineering principles, including vehicle architecture and aerodynamics.Some domestic and international travel is required (10-25%).Ability to work on site, in Carlsbad, CA.Frequent use of speech, vision, hearing, and use of hands for computer use, taping models, and presentations. Frequent sitting, standing, and reaching with hands.Preferred Qualifications:

CAD ProficiencyThe successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, job-related education, skills, and experience, geographic location, and market conditions.
