POSITION SUMMARYThe Director of Marketing and Communications manages the church’s image and message through excellence and effectiveness in branding, design services, marketing, online presence, and other strategic means. The successful candidate must possess excellent leadership qualities, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to maximize the talents of their team.

QUALIFICATIONS1. Must have a growing and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ2. Must align with the beliefs, values, and mission of First Baptist Atlanta3. Bachelor’s degree or higher in marketing, communications, or related study4. Minimum 10 years’ experience in marketing and communications5. Must be an effective manager of individual employees and teams6. Must be adept at oral and written communication, capable of making effective presentations, and able to professionally interact with all FBA staff members7. Must be accessible at all times for addressing emergencies that may arise8. Must be proficient with programs in Microsoft suite, Adobe suite, as well as Social and Digital Media platforms9. Must possess robust copywriting and editing skills10. Must possess strong time management and leadership skills

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Develop and propose effective marketing and communication strategies for First Baptist Atlanta while also identifying target audiences2. Work with the team to develop all digital, social, video, audio, and print content3. Build brand awareness, including positioning, and set guidelines to maintain the brand standard4. Utilize search engine optimization, Google Analytics, social and digital platforms to expand FBA’s audience and reach5. Oversee, track, analyze, and report on the performance of the website and social media6. Provide oversight and direction for contractors and vendors7. Recruit and train a volunteer team to assist with photography and livestream monitoring8. Oversee all legal aspects of communications such as copyrights, waivers, permissions, and contracts9. Establishes protocols for direct reports that include clearly defined expectations, a consistent standard of accountability, and an annual employee review of job performance10. Cultivate a disposition of attentiveness, courtesy, and promptness among Communications team members in their responses to requests, replies to inquiries, follow-up on client satisfaction, and all personal interactions, including phone calls, physical and electronic correspondence, and in-person conversations11. Establish annual goals for increasing effectiveness in all areas of communications12. Provide team members with training opportunities and other resources for each team member’s personal, professional, and spiritual development13. Maintain familiarity with trends and developments in the fields of specialization pertinent to the purpose and functions of Church Communications14. Explore and pursue professional associations and networks among other churches and corporations for collaborative enrichment in communications methodologies15. Prepare the annual Communications departmental budget for proposal to the Senior Pastor16. Whatever it takes

ADDITIONAL DUTIES1. Performs the annual employee review of job performance of direct reports2. Provides team members and volunteers with training opportunities and other resources for each team member’s personal, professional, and spiritual development3. Explores and pursues professional associations and networks among other churches and ministries for collaborative enrichment in all areas pertinent to effective Great Commission ministries through the local church4.
