This is a part-time, non-exempt position and does not include benefits. 19 hours per week. Schedule may be flexible, but hours must be worked between 8 am and 6 pm Monday-Friday. This position is eligible for a hybrid telecommuting schedule.About PBS UtahPBS Utah is Utah’s PBS station, providing the state with access to exceptional content that entertains, informs, and enriches viewers. Recognized as one of the leading public television stations in the country, PBS Utah is committed to serving and engaging with the Utah community through its diverse productions, as well as its educational and outreach programs.Job SummaryAs a part of PBS Utah’s dynamic Marketing & Education Department, the Video Editor will manage the production of co-branded on-air promos and other broadcast content.Essential FunctionsManage production of all on-air co-branded promos for all channels; select, download, edit and schedule promos.Produce daily line-up spots and billboards; write scripts, schedule.Cross-promote between channels, when appropriate.Work with Traffic/Master Control and editors to ensure smooth workflow, deliver assets, and track projects.Keep on top of schedule changes and make necessary changes.Keep all projects on schedule.Other duties as assigned.Reporting RelationshipThis position reports to PBS Utah’s Director of Marketing.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Communication, Film or a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).Two years of demonstrated professional experience in the operation of digital/non-linear editing systems.Experience with graphics/VFX software; familiarity with CODECs and compression basics.Familiarity with all aspects of television video and audio production including field and studio applications is preferred.Familiarity with PBS and FCC rules and regulations guiding content and presentation of television programming for broadcast is required.The ability to work under deadline pressure, to make creative decisions, be motivated and organized to meet deadlines while assuring high technical and aesthetic standards is required.Department Specific QualificationsBachelor’s degree plus 1 year experience in Marketing/Production/Broadcast Media or equivalent professional experience at a broadcast media outlet, creative agency, entertainment marketing environment, or similar.Proficient in Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop (full Premiere/Adobe Suite).Excellent written communication skills, including grammar, writing, editing, and proofreading skills.Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills and commitment to working collaboratively with Marketing Department and other internal departments.Detail-oriented and well-organized.Hard-working and dependable, ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines.Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.PreferencesSpecial Instructions SummaryAdditional InformationThe University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems (“URS”).
