The Graphic Designer and Exhibition Technician will play a vital role as a member of the Design & Production team to produce compelling exhibitions that showcase Colorado's rich history. You will also collaborate closely with the Affiliate Network team, to ensure Colorado stories meet high standards and reach diverse audiences as traveling exhibitions. Your role will support our mission to connect and grow Colorado's 400+ history museums and organizations, pushing creative boundaries to offer visitors memorable experiences.

Duties

With guidance from the art director, create dynamic graphic design packages for History Colorado exhibitions.Design two dimensional components of an exhibition: infographics, interpretive panels, object labels, large-scale murals, interactives and flip-books.Participate in the design and production of several of the eight exhibitions per year on average, ranging from mezzanine installations to large gallery exhibitions.Prepare exhibitions for travel by creating installation guide books, packing plans, and setting standardized shipment procedures.Assist with Installation and deinstallation of traveling exhibitions as necessary.Assist with inventory and storage of traveling exhibitions.Represent History Colorado and our exhibitions program while traveling for Affiliates Network projects.Collaborate with colleagues across History Colorado, including curatorial services, collections access, publications, philanthropy, membership, marketing, and communications to ensure clear understanding for our exhibition planning and affiliates network.Support other departments within History Colorado for requested design work.This is a Full-time on site position. A strong design background with an understanding of how to apply 2 dimensional designs to 3 dimensional objects and spaces.Experience working with a cultural institution or creating designs for public spaces.Strong time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple project schedules.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.An enthusiasm to explore ideas, take risks, amplify diverse voices, and help others discover what makes Colorado, Colorado.2-5 years of experience in a similar role.Ability to obtain a Colorado Driver’s License.A BFA or MFA in design.Additional Skills
