Incumbent works under the direction of the Douglas County Sheriff or designee, creating visually compelling and storytelling-rich content showcasing the work of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO).Responsibilities:

Capture and edit high-quality videos and photos for various platforms.Establish and maintain effective work relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the public.Comply with Civil Service policies and regulations, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, department policies and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment.Participate in confidential discussions (e.g. criminal investigations, internal affairs, personnel actions, labor-relations strategies and/or communications).Assist in managing DCSO’s social media platforms (e.g. YouTube, Facebook, X).Develop high-quality copy (e.g. websites, news releases, marketing materials, and social media).Interview County officials, citizens and DCSO employees producing engaging stories and visuals (e.g. photos, videos, graphics).Schedule and coordinate photo/video shoots (e.g. production, post-production, editing).Serve as the producer, director and scriptwriter for DCSO video projects.Contribute to the creative process suggesting ideas and techniques for improving digital storytelling.Organize press conferences, statements, interviews, and appearances with Sheriff Office officials.Assist the Sheriff and executive staff with establishing and maintaining the executive meeting calendar.Maintain job knowledge and skills (e.g. research, meetings, webinars, seminars, continuing education).Safely operate a motor vehicle when required to travel on County business.Report to work at assigned work location with regular, consistent attendance.Perform other duties as assigned and directed.Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or Marketing required.*Five (5) years of digital media, print materials, media relations, or marketing experience required.*Two (2) years of MSOffice, Canva, Google Forms/Sheets experience required.Valid driver’s license and own transportation upon hire and maintained throughout employment required.Completion of a pre-employment criminal record check and conditional offer drug screen required.*Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted for requirements on a year-for-year basis.Work Environment:

Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges. Incumbent must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computers and other equipment.
