The Media Infrastructure organization at LinkedIn builds world class infrastructure to power creation and consumption of every image, video, document, live stream, audio and video conferences on LinkedIn. On a daily basis, our 1 billion+ members upload and consume media at millions of QPS.

Join our innovative organization as the Manager of Media Systems team where you’ll be responsible for building a reliable, performant, scalable and cost-efficient infrastructure to support creation and processing of all media content for LinkedIn. You will help build services that can handle millions of requests per second to support creation, consumption, metadata management and life-cycle management of media assets for all LinkedIn members. You will help build infrastructure to schedule and execute complex media processing tasks for petabytes of content. You will be responsible for building capabilities to honor data compliance standards (such as GDPR, DMA) for all LinkedIn’s media data. You’ll help define the operational standard and quality bar for the platform and rally the team to continually set and meet ambitious goals.

Responsibilities:Lead, coach and manage core team of engineers working on building the infrastructure. You will also work with additional 30+ engineers from other parts of the Media Infrastructure organization.Participate with senior management in developing a long-term technology roadmap for the team and company.Have the ability to dive deep into technical discussions to challenge the status quo, and steer the team in the right direction/to push the envelope.Communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across engineering and business leadership.Help the team realize their potential by setting clear expectations, openly evaluating performance, upholding accountability, and providing challenges to stretch their skills.Drive a culture of operational excellence. Lead the team into defining performance goals, metrics and building the infrastructure and tooling necessary to maintain a high quality bar and detect issues in real time.Create an inclusive work environment that fosters autonomy, transparency, innovation and learning, while holding a high bar for quality.

Basic Qualifications:BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.7+ years’ experience in software design, development, and large-scale software engineering1+ years of experience in software engineering management.Experience in hiring, mentoring, coaching and developing top engineering talent.Experience programming in object-oriented and/or functional programming languages(Java/C#/etc.) and distributed systems concepts.Hands on experience developing distributed systems, databases, or other large scale data systems.

Preferred Qualifications:Experience building highly scalable REST API frontends that can handle millions of QPS.Experience building distributed processing infrastructure for online and bulk workloadsExperience with workflow execution engines such as Temporal or Airflow.Experience building backend infrastructure specific to large scale media processingStrong communication skills to help distill complex technical paradigms into easily understandable literature.Ability to provide technical direction across the organization and influence stakeholders at all levels.2+ years of experience in software engineering management

LinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.The pay range for this role is $156,000 to $255,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
