The Grants & Communications Manager oversees the WHC’s community investments portfolio (including grants, donations, and sponsorships), and manages external strategic communications, in support of our mission and contractual obligations.

Essential Responsibilities:COMMUNITY INVESTMENTS:

Manages the WHC’s community investments portfolio including the administration of grants, donations, and sponsorships.

Establishes WHC’s annual funding priorities in alignment with the Marion-Polk Community Health Improvement Plan, contractual obligations, committee recommendations, and WHC Board of Directors’ directives.

Oversees the development and maintenance of funding applications, evaluation tools, schedules, and communications.

Interfaces with grantees and potential applicants, soliciting and reviewing proposals, and organizing and screening grants for funding.

Collaborates with the WHC’s Community Advisory Council to support their role in making annual funding recommendations for the PacificSource Community Solutions Marion-Polk Coordinated Care Organization-budgeted

Community Benefit Initiative and SHARE Initiative dollars.

Collaborates with the WHC’s Community Impact Committee to support their role in overseeing grantmaking through the WHC’s Community Impact Fund and related policy work.

Prepares and presents regular community investment reports to the WHC’s Board of Directors, Community Advisory Council, Community Impact Committee, Finance Committee, and other WHC committees as directed.

Manages the WHC’s Community Impact Committee.

Develops strong working relationships with the Community Impact Committee Co-chairs to determine priorities, set agendas, and facilitate monthly meetings.

Manages all Community Impact Committee membership recruitment and retention activities ensuring the committee is representative of the Marion-Polk community.

Oversees implementation of the WHC’s community investment evaluation framework and leads continuous improvement efforts. This includes monitoring and evaluating grantee performance and progress.

Manages the WHC’s Community Benefit Initiative Delegation Agreement with PacificSource Community Solutions including required quarterly and annual Exhibit L reporting.

Represents the WHC and its funding priorities in the community through collaboration, conferences, site visits, and engagement with philanthropic partners.

COMMUNICATIONS:

Develops, implements, and evaluates the WHC’s annual communications plan.

Develops and manages WHC’s brand standards.

Manages the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, an annual report, and the WHC’s website.

Develops and manages WHC’s social media strategy.

Works with all forms of media including press releases and digital campaigns, print materials, social media, video, and more.

Ensures all WHC materials have consistent and positive messaging and branding.

Conducts quality control of all communications.

Develops relationships with local media outlets and manages media contacts.

GENERAL:

Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.

Respectfully takes direction from the Deputy Director.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to synthesize and present information efficiently; excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail.

Strong organizational and project management skills.

Ability to work collaboratively and independently to manage competing priorities and achieve organizational goals.

Demonstrated ability to work in a grants management database including database customization and report preparation.

Previous grants management experience.

Previous communications experience covering areas such as website content, social media, newsletters, and annual reports.

Passion for serving the Marion-Polk community.

Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of philanthropy and the non-profit sector.

Knowledge of Oregon’s Coordinated Care Organization landscape.

Lives in the Marion-Polk community.

Required Education and / or Certifications:Possesses and maintains a current Oregon driver’s license and an acceptable driving record and is able and willing to drive for WHC business.
