SUMMARY

:

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and producing copy and written materials for external and internal communications. This role will be essential in elevating customer voices and supporting our communities. The Coordinator will also support Mid-Ohio Food Collective representatives through preparation for public appearances. As the Communications Coordinator, this position will play a key role in assisting the communications team in the fulfillment of its department objectives while also advancing the priorities of the organization.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Generate deadline-driven content and copy for newsletters, blog posts, whitepapers, press releases, letters to the editor, reports, and other recurring and one-time communications that engage various external and internal stakeholder groups, including donors, customers, volunteers, advocates, agency partners, and MOFC employees.

Collaborate with Communications team and other departments to assess the success and impact of communications initiatives and products; refine processes and products in response to feedback to ensure organizational goals are met.

Edit content and provide writing support for communication materials from other departments as needed.

In partnership with the full Communications team, develop and refine strategies to engage various audiences to maximize engagement and support of the Mid-Ohio Food Collective's mission through aligned, coordinated messaging.

Assist with generating and pursuing story leads to support major campaigns including but not limited to Hunger Action Month, Double Your Donation Day, Operation Feed, and other communications initiatives.

Develop and implement strategies to elevate customer voices through interviews and written storytelling, including on-site interactions with customers at Mid-Ohio Markets, agency partner locations, and community events.

Craft and update copy and messaging for MOFC website, owned media, and other digital platforms.

Partner with the Communications team to build and maintain a library of customer stories for earned/owned media purposes.

Execute content creation and strategy aligned with communications calendar and editorial roadmap, including significant portions of the Mid-Ohio Food Collective Annual Report.

Compose scripts and talking points for promotional campaigns, videos, and public appearances in support of President/CEO, Senior VP of Communications, and other MOFC representatives.

Collaborate with

the Communications team and MOFC's in-house Brand/Creative team to reinforce each brand's voice within our house of brands and develop content for promotional/marketing materials.

Recommend, research, and develop facts, quotes, and scenarios to support communications strategy and execution.

Model MOFC's core values in all interactions though a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach-including our organization's ongoing commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education:

Undergraduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in journalism, business or nonprofit

communications, or similar roles.

Experience

: 2+ years of experience working within corporate, agency, media, non-profit, or public-sector communications roles. Non-traditional roles that demonstrate skills and experience may be considered.

Skills/Competencies

:

Written communication

: Expert understanding of writing mechanics and grammar. Ability to write for diverse audiences and reading levels across all mediums while hewing to organizational voice, tone, and AP style. Can "boil down" verbose content to the "essence" of the main message in a concise, effective manner.

Technical skillset

: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online collaboration tools. Ability to write search-engine optimized website content. Familiarity with online content management systems (i.e. WordPress) a plus.

Team player

: Collaborate with diverse teams on projects across a dynamic, fast-paced organization operating on tight deadlines. Strong presentation and communications skills. Team player with excellent relationship-building skills. Consistently generate fresh ideas for meeting the communication objectives of each project.
