Success in this role is contingent on an in-depth understanding of still media, motion media, and the design process and the ability to complete projects through effective execution of the creative process. Will also be expected to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment to deliver an extremely high level of work. The Visual Effects Designer must be comfortable working with vendors, have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and technical knowledge.The Visual Effects Designer will report to the Manager-Video Systems Design.This is a casual temporary/seasonal role with no guarantee of weekly working hours, as hours fluctuate based on business needs.What You Will Do:

Participate in a project’s creative development and production phases, including blue-sky brainstorming, project kick-off, scope definition, story-boarding, and pre-production, production, and final deliverablesFunction as the primary compositor/editor for assigned projectsCreate and edit storyboards and animaticsCreate project media design templatesDrive the media project management workflow for multiple collaboratorsRotoscope assets as neededAccountable for the development of the media budget and maintaining scope costsParticipate in onsite live programming sessions in collaboration with other disciplinesOversee the team’s storage/archival efforts, participating as necessary to interface with other Company technology divisionsParticipate in hybrid and onsite work of media team as required throughout all stages of productionWhen necessary, act as a media representative for contracted media companies and vendors ensuring Disney quality, compatibility, and proper documentation of all deliverablesPartner with the video systems designers, ensuring a smooth transition from production and programming to operationManage the export of media via render management per DLE standardsBe available to the operating and technical teams for creative and technical input regarding currently running projects and remountsExplore new workflow strategies, technologies, and applications for driving and implementing change with an eye on pipeline efficiencyPartner, at times, with outside resources and/or firmsDevelop and maintain industry connectionsInteract with internal department staff and entertainment leadership regularlyInteract with the project team's creative leadership, partners, and key stakeholders regularlyRequired Qualifications:

Current portfolio or website5+ years of experience in media creation/composition, graphic design, or visual storytelling in immersive entertainment, commercial, film, or TV media environments5+ years experience in media production practice and procedures including software applications and show design in a team dynamic5+ years experience utilizing software such as Nuke, Unreal, Cinema 4D, Maya, Adobe Creative Suite, and Resolve2+ years experience in 2D and 3D color management workflow2+ years experience utilizing codecs, formats, and frame rates2+ years experience with production management software such as ShotGridExperience adhering to a strong file naming and folder management collaborative workflowExperience utilizing current technology and industry standards for media creation (theatrical, industrial, concert, touring, etc.), as applied to live show and facility systemsExperience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlinesExperience managing a creative project from concept to developmentExperience with media production theory and practiceStrong verbal and written communication skillsExperience with Disney Live Entertainment Standards (including Sensitive Information Protocols) and industry standardsAbility to work flexible hours - nights, weekends, holidaysWillingness to travel to domestic and foreign venues for extended periodsMust have, or be willing to obtain, a passport and corporate credit card for travelPreferred Qualifications

Experience with the heritage and culture of The Walt Disney Company (TWDC)Experience with Disney Live Entertainment Standards (including Sensitive Information Protocols) and industry standardsEducation:

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
