This role is eligible to be performed remotely; however, if you reside within 60 miles of Lands’ End’s offices in Dodgeville, WI or New York, NY, you will be expected to collaborate onsite in a hybrid fashion for up to 12 days per month.People are the heart of our company, and our doors are open to everyone. It’s what we do as people that makes Lands’ End a great place to shop and a great place to work.The Email Marketing Director performs in a highly visible and cross-functional role, leading the Email Marketing Team which provides strategic marketing for the full lifecycle of email automation, user journey, compliance, and other email services. The Email Marketing Director organizes and manages the day-to-day workflow of all customer communication and messaging, acting as the liaison between the email marketing team, leadership, and cross-functional teams. Working directly with senior leadership, the Director acts as the thought leader in this space and will lead the development of strategies, programs, and initiatives meant to assist the organization in meeting its goals and objectives.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, lead, and own the brand’s Email and SMS contact strategy including content, promotion planning, segmentation/personalization roadmap, data flows, and email automations.Actively lead and collaborate with all cross-functional partners including key stakeholders, ELT, business planning, merchandising, license partners, creative, Business Outfitter marketing, marketing operations, and consumer insights within Lands’ End to drive customer engagement and sales.Oversee email execution, collaborating closely with Business Planning, Creative, Product, and Merchandising teams, ensuring flawless production and meeting/exceeding KPIs for the channel.Coordinate with other channel leaders on integrated marketing planning for a season, key event, or go-to-market strategy.Defend and maintain a consistent brand message while balancing storytelling and commercial objectives throughout all marketing initiatives.Analyze customer data and market trends to inform segmentation, personalization, and targeted marketing campaigns.Provide thought leadership in the areas of email/SMS contact strategy and marketing mix optimization.Lead improving the productivity and effect of marketing planning and execution processes to drive a customer-first approach.Develop and manage associated operating budgets, review and recommend digital products and partners to supplement and evolve tech stack and improve customer journey.Ensure superior execution and effective control of marketing results and take corrective action to adjust marketing plans and activities to ensure future results meet or exceed forecast.Lead and mentor the email marketing team to support planning and execution of email and SMS monthly promotional calendar.Evaluate market research, historical results, test results, and competitive intelligence to adjust marketing contact and customer segment strategies to meet changing market and competitive conditions.Partner closely with Consumer Insights to drive sales and optimizations through testing.Track performance and establish metrics as needed.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field; MBA preferred.10+ years in Email, Retention Marketing, or CRM role supporting a multi-channel organization.5+ years in leadership positions and 3 or more years of marketing planning functional experience.Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage and communicate with a team of creative and technical professionals.A demonstrated history of simultaneously managing multiple programs and projects and able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, adapting quickly to changing deadlines and always flexible in shifting tasks to meet deliverables.Proven track record of implementing successful retention strategies in retail or e-commerce.Strong leadership and consensus-building skills with the ability to develop successful business relationships and work at all levels of the organization.Proficiency in CRM platforms and marketing automation tools.Strong analytical skills and experience with data-driven decision making.Strong P&L orientation, well versed in drivers of marketing costs and impact on initiatives.Must possess top-level business management, interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to analyze situations, develop and research alternatives, and make customer-focused recommendations.Comfort with ambiguity and change; able to make strong recommendations and decisions despite ambiguous situations.Strong project management skills; able to deliver consistent high-quality results on time and within budget.Ability to focus the organization on efforts that add significant value.Ability to direct the work of direct and indirect reports as well as cross-functional and cross-divisional partners.Leadership ResponsibilitiesLead and manage a team.Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members.Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.Set performance expectations and goals for team members.Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.Identify and address performance issues through coaching and disciplinary actions when necessary.Participate in recruitment and onboarding of new team members as needed.Identify training needs within the team and coordinate relevant development programs; encourage continuous learning and skill development among team members.Serve as liaison between upper management and team, conveying organizational goals and expectations.Address conflicts or issues within the team promptly and effectively.Manage team resources including workload distribution and project assignments.Ensure optimal utilization of team member’s skills and expertise.Collaborate with upper management to establish team goals aligned with organizational objectives.Contribute to the development and implementation of department strategies.The pay range for this position is $150,000 – $170,000. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographical location, and business or organizational needs. This position may also be eligible for annual merit increase, bonus, and/or incentive compensation.
