The FIS Platform team’s vision is to enable developers to access a full suite of financial capabilities and build their own applications through low and no-code experiences. We operate like an incubated startup within FIS, with the full support of the company and a mandate to create a world-class embedded finance platform. We have a fast-paced and fun group that believes strongly in putting the user first and setting a high bar for everything we ship.

Our team is seeking a Design Program Manager to drive the evolution of banking experiences for millions of consumers. This role within our newly established multidisciplinary design group will shape our design culture and collaborate closely with product, engineering, and other cross-functional leaders to ensure the successful launch of high-quality products for our clients and their customers. Additionally, nurturing the growth and development of your team members will be integral to your role, as you collaborate closely with each individual to unlock their full potential.

What you will be doing:

As a Design Program Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of guiding and leading design teams and programs to success. Here’s what you’ll own and drive:

Leadership and Management:

Lead and guide teams/programs, ensuring comprehensive solutions for defined problems with oversight as needed – Design+ and XFN often lean on their leadership and ability to successfully guide efforts.

Drive small to medium design+ teams to lead new programs or initiatives for a focus area within an organization, managing workflows with teams to execute broader projects and escalating and communicating issues cross-functionally.

Proactively identify opportunities and risks, forging a path forward to increase team effectiveness.

Deliver high-quality systems and programs that are work multipliers, amplifying the productivity of the team.

Collaboration and Communication:

Build trust and establish strong relationships with cross-functional partners including executives, product managers, engineers and other functional leaders to align on priorities and drive collaboration.

Act as a bridge between UX, Engineering, and Product Management teams, ensuring interdependencies are understood and planned for.

Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, and balance customer needs versus business goals and technical constraints.

Enable creative solutions by leveraging design acumen, high judgment, and knowledge of business and customer experience best practices.

Promote transparency, visibility, and community among the team.

Advocate for the needs of the design team to ensure alignment and support from stakeholders.

Culture and Team Building:

Influence culture by fostering inclusivity, organizing team bonding activities, and hosting retrospectives.

Understand staffing gaps on teams, identify experience levels, and partner with management to address them.

Participate in recruiting activities including talent identification, interviewing, selling, and improving the hiring process.

Change management:

Navigate and manage change effectively within the team and XFN partners, overseeing smooth transitions and minimal disruption to ongoing projects and operations.

Actively seek feedback from the team on process, tooling and workflow to drive continuous improvements.

Attributes:

Thrives in ambiguity, proactive, organized, excellent time management, accessible, approachable, well known as the program lead across XFN.

What you will need:

Over 5 years of experience leading and expanding high-performance design teams, overseeing both individual contributors and managers.

Capable of concurrently managing multiple projects while effectively influencing diverse audiences and fostering strong cross-functional partnerships to align design efforts with broader business goals.

Comfortable navigating ambiguous situations, employing rigorous design thinking and operational frameworks to address complex challenges.

Exceptional communication abilities, adept at conveying ideas effectively in various settings, from small group discussions to executive presentations.

Proficient in inspiring and guiding design teams by providing them with crucial business insights, feedback, and direction.

Bring a balanced approach and sound decision-making to strategic conversations, advocating for both user needs and business objectives within your teams and across peers.

Thrives in a fast-paced environment and is flexible and agile.

Bonus - Experience in working with product design (especially design systems), but seasoned program managers are welcome to apply as well.
