Job Description:

The Digital Client Solutions (DCS) team was formed to innovate how Sun Life customers interact digitally with some of their most vital health and financial benefits. We are a team of designers, engineers and product owners who are passionate about using technology to raise the bar within the insurance industry. Insurance benefits play a vital role for millions of Americans but enrolling, managing, and using them has traditionally been a confusing and frustrating experience for subscribers and their employers. The Experience Design team is helping to set a new standard by transforming how we approach the digital product experience so that it's user-centered and design-led.We are seeking a Senior level Product Designer to lead the design of medium to large features in one or more of our key digital platforms. This is a critical role in understanding a customer’s needs and making sure we are meeting or exceeding those needs through digital touchpoints. You will work on the full design lifecycle: understanding both user and business needs, sketching and brainstorming solutions, wireframing and prototyping flows and then validate your solution with our users. You will turn long-term visions into detailed designs and then collaborate with product owners and engineers to see that they are built to your specifications. This role is perfect for someone who wants to define an entire digital customer experience – not just deliver features.

Face some of your most challenging projects and bring new thinking to an industry that needs it desperatelyPractice a user-centered, insights-driven approach to product designSupport larger digital product programs that will often span multiple squads and PMs – owning both the short-term tactical need and the long-term visionCollaborate with a tight-knit product and engineering team that follows modern agile practicesExpress early/foundational design directions through user flows, sketches and wireframesSupport design cohesion across digital touchpoints by applying design principles and design systems to your work. Seek opportunities to evolve both to stay current with current trends.Define detailed visual and UI design through visual comps, prototypes and design specificationsIdentify needs for customer research to support the design program and help execute on those activities including surveys, usability tests and interviews.Collaborate with design peers who are designing in the same platform or journey and take direction from design leadership to stay aligned to long-term visionsPlan your approach to a design problem – identify activities, artifacts, inputs needed – the sequence and timing needed for eachStay nimble and iterative – evolving your approach based on new ideas and pressures from within and outside the team

Must-have qualifications:

Over five years of experience in a similar rolePrior experience as part of an agile digital product team that supports one or more products in-marketA portfolio demonstrating a variety of prior design projects for active digital productsExperience in continuous delivery and comfortable impacting design and product decisions in fast-moving and ever-changing environmentSkilled in developing both the UX and UI of a productHighly proficient in collaborative wireframing and design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Axure or Adobe XDFamiliar working with product owners and engineering teams – and common agile practices such as grooming, sprints, iteration reviews etc.Experience conducting or collaborating in user research activities such as usability tests and surveysA sense of humor and humility

Southern region: $103,800 - $155,700 annuallyCentral region: $109,500 - $164,300 annuallyNorthern region: $117,000 - $175,500 annually

If you are a Colorado resident, the salary range for this position is $99,100 - $148,700 annually.If you are a New York resident, the salary range for this position is $117,000 - $175,500 annually.If you are Washington resident, the salary range for this position is $109,500 - $164,300 annually.

The full range minimum and maximum listed in the job posting is tied to the GCF level and job family. We consider various factors in determining actual pay including your skills, qualifications, and experience.
