The Interior Designer is responsible for managing the design process in its entirety and creating detailed furniture plans with all finishes and specifications. This position works closely with sales and operations and reports to the Director of Design.ResponsibilitiesAssists in the management of the full cycle of the design process, from start to finish.Assists in the management of the client programming process.Manage customer concerns, and resolve issues related to layout, space, and furniture.Handles the selection process of furniture specifications and finishes based on client communication.Studies, researches, and plans for design styles and trends.Maintains knowledge of design products.Maintains a working knowledge of construction-related elements (associated with design) and building codes.Utilizes CAD to generate design samples, sketches, plans, and renderings.Prepares itemized specifications, final designs, and installation drawings.Acts as the liaison with operations and sales departments.Assists in the evaluation of issues related to pricing, purchasing, ergonomics, materials, and manufacturing methods and techniques.Organizes, plans, and schedules projects and design timelines.Attends workshops, seminars, and training on various types of manufacturing and furniture design.Provides showroom and library assistance as needed.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in interior design or equivalent experience in a related field.Proficiency in AutoCAD, CAP, Configura/Smarttools, SketchUP, and Project Matrix.Experience with Steelcase.Ability to prioritize, organize, and communicate effectively.Ability to be successful with little to moderate supervision.
