About this role:

As a Staff Product Designer at Samsara, you will be an instrumental leader on the Product Design team who will develop strategic designs and ship products that our customers use every day to run their operations. We’re looking for someone who is excited to shape the daily experience of those customers across industries such as transportation and logistics, construction, food and beverage, government and more. More specifically, this role will be focused on building a 0-1 product within the company. You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Support, and Customer Success to understand the market, identify customer needs, design concepts, and deliver value to customers. You will also engage directly with customers and leverage their feedback throughout your process. This role will also entail high level stakeholder engagement and the development of a roadmap in close partnership with Product.

In this role, you will:

Spearhead and deliver on high-impact, critical design projects that unlock significant customer and business value.Work directly with customers to understand their needs and validate design solutions.Collaborate closely with product and engineering on strategy, planning and execution.Drive design roadmaps that make progress over multiple quarters on key company investments.Articulate our product and design strategy in a way that builds excitement and motivates leadership.Up-level the design team in skills, tools, and practice and instill good design sense in other disciplines.Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum requirements for the role:

8+ years experience designing web & mobile applications.Expertise in interaction and visual design.Figma fluency (including prototyping).Portfolio showcasing your craft, ability to solve user-problems, and quantified impact.

An ideal candidate also has:

Best in class product design abilities.Ability to engage directly with customers to understand needs and validate design visions.Excellent collaboration with cross-functional partners.Track record of strategic influence & shipping impact for 0-1 products.Adept communicator at various altitudes, from critical, granular details to long-term vision.
