The Design Manager position is a direct-hire position working for HGA's Integrated Services Business Unit.Responsible for the administrative and technical management as necessary over more than one major design discipline or department on projects ensuring adherence to established engineering principles, consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals. Assumes responsibility for budgeted man hours and staffing. Applies broad plans of operation and periodically reviews project schedules. The Design Manager will recommend and implement work group standards, policies, and procedures.Responsibilities:

Performs supervision duties, usually a drafting team.Trains subordinate personnel.Plans the work to meet milestones.Develops conceptual and detailed design.Coordinates with engineers and personnel in other disciplines.Checks drawings.Assists in checkout and start-up of a project.Develops and implements ideas and methods to achieve the most efficient design to meet the job requirements. Makes design calculations and prepares sketches and drawings as required. Jobs will vary from proposals and studies to detailed engineering design.Assists in the supervision of a discipline team and provides leadership for the team. Plans the work, monitors progress, and takes responsibility for achieving project milestones. Assists in and/or completes performance evaluations of the team members and provides on-the-job training.Checks engineering drawings for conformance with design, completeness, accuracy, and quality.Coordinates with key personnel in and out of the discipline to minimize interferences and provide the best design for the conditions.Communicates with client and contractor personnel to correlate all pertinent information and resolve conflicts.At completion of detailed design, provides checkout and start-up assistance.Assists in the development of design aids and design standards.Self-starter.Ability to react promptly and efficiently to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.Ability to elicit cooperation from a variety of sources including team members, subcontractors, and other departments.Ability to bring projects and tasks to successful completion through political sensitivity.Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and presentation skills.Qualifications:

Associates or bachelor's degree preferred.Minimum experience of 15 years in a design role.A combination of education and experience will be considered.Requires broad technical knowledge in the discipline assigned and extensive experience in drafting and design.Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.Experience in the Oil & Gas, Refinery, or Chemical Industry field is preferred.Proficiency in MS Windows, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word.Position will be based in Ruston, LA, but highly qualified remote candidates will be considered.Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled
