Job SummaryThe Graphic Designer will play a key role in translating complex issues related to juvenile and family justice into visually compelling and accessible materials. This individual will collaborate with various teams within the organization to create impactful designs that support our mission, while ensuring brand consistency.

Essential FunctionsEssential functions and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Graphic Design:

Develop visually appealing and effective design solutions for print and digital materials, including brochures, reports, infographics, social media graphics, and website elements.

Ensure brand consistency and adherence to established design guidelines in all materials.

Collaboration:

Work closely with the communications team, content creators, and subject matter experts to understand project goals and objectives.

Participate in brainstorming sessions and provide creative input for various projects.

Project Management:

Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained.

Collaborate with external vendors and printers as needed.

Research and Trends:

Stay informed about design trends, innovations, and best practices to continuously improve the quality and impact of NCJFCJ's visual communication.

Copy Editing:

Edit a wide variety of documents in preparation for publication, social media, etc.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience

Undergraduate degree from an accredited university in marketing, journalism, graphic design, visual communication, or similar areas of study.

Three years professional experience in graphic design, or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience in a relevant field.

A passion or preference for working in a non-profit or grant-funded environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Ability to create, design, and execute marketing and promotional materials, both print and electronic with a strong portfolio showcasing a variety of design projects.

Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant design tools.

Understanding of social justice issues and a commitment to the mission of NCJFCJ.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Knowledgeable in principles, tools, techniques, and software pertaining to art media and graphics with advanced level skills in computerized graphic design programs.

Knowledge of graphic design concepts and layout techniques.

Strong ability to compose, edit, and proofread copy for accuracy, grammar, punctuation, consistency, style, and formatting.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors.

Ability to manage files and maintain records in compliance with recordkeeping policies.

Strong, effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to plan and carry work through to completion with accuracy and with strong emphasis on attention to detail.

Able to comfortably manage multiple tasks and projects utilizing time management and organization skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Familiarity with print and digital production processes.

Physical Demands

Extended periods of sitting

Extended use of desktop/laptop computer and peripheral equipment

Read and analyze fine print for extended periods

Occasional stooping, standing, carrying

Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (with assistance)
