Position Description:The Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) will work 10 hours per week and receive up to 15 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 6 for fall, 6 for spring, and 3 for summer.Overview:The overall goal of this study is to explore PR practitioners’ use and understanding of generative AI. The project addresses a critical gap in current understanding and practice regarding the integration of generative AI into PR practice, specifically, how practitioners can integrate it strategically, how it impacts outcomes, and the ethical implications.Duties:Assisting Dr. Shaw with gathering, analyzing, and writing a literature review of relevant journal articles and current communication materials about the impact of AI on strategic public relations practice.Assisting with gathering qualitative and quantitative data from public relations practitioners to obtain their perceptions of the role/impact of AI in their jobs.Assisting in coding data using quantitative/qualitative data analysis software.Assisting in writing a final report.The GRA will also be expected to:Submit weekly reports of the status of their work.Keep a weekly log of time worked on the project.Respond to emails about the project within 24 hours.Meet with Dr. Shaw weekly (schedule will be adjusted around work/class commitments).Preferred Qualifications:An interest in conducting primary research.Excellent written, verbal, and digital media professionalism.Ability to meet deadlines and be held accountable for assigned tasks.Ability to accept constructive criticism in order to improve skills.Special Conditions for Eligibility:Please be aware that employment at Bridgewater State University is contingent upon completion of a successful background check.
