Duties and Responsibilities(* Denotes essential functions)

*Under the general supervision, function as an integral team member for the He Loa Ke Aho Title III grant within Leeward CC’s Kipuka, Native Hawaiian Center at Pu’uloa. Develops, implements, evaluates, and improves multifaceted media strategies for programs and initiatives that fulfill the grant’s objectives to indigenize the college and/or promote Native Hawaiian student success, including but not limited to documenting student engagement experiences, recording campus and community events for digital delivery, and developing public relations and student communications materials for web, print, social media, and broadcast media.*Work in close collaboration with the Cultural Educational Specialist, Innovation Center for Teaching and Learning Coordinator, Kipuka Native Hawaiian Center personnel, and cultural community partners to provide the media, digital, and video production and design in support of professional development programs that are offered in online asynchronous, synchronous, and/or hybrid modalities.*Work with faculty, staff, and community members to create, produce, and/or obtain permissions for media images, develop glossary and supplemental resource material imagery, ensure print and digital material accessibility, perform final product editing, and acquire OER licenses in order to publish a Hawaiian studies textbook and supplemental culturally-sustaining OER materials to OER, instructional, and/or professional development websites.*Work in close collaboration with the Cultural Educational Specialist, Native Hawaiian Student Support Specialist, Kipuka Native Hawaiian Center personnel, counselors, faculty and staff, and community partners to create, design, implement and maintain online digital student resource manuals targeted to address Native Hawaiian student success in the AA in Hawaiian Studies, AS in Natural Sciences, and AS in Teacher Education degree programs.*Creates, designs, implements, and maintains an indigenous resources site to house culturally-sustaining instructional materials, lesson plan templates, and student support materials targeted for Native Hawaiian student success.*Develops all aspects of program videography from concept to production, post-production, and presentation of final pieces.*Takes and creates high-quality, openly-licensed digital photos and builds an organized electronic storage system for the grant’s website and archives.*Creates digital delivery systems for student support and engagement interventions via social media, email, blogs, and video conferencing for online or blended student support and engagement.*Designs, implements, and improves program websites, social media, and communications materials.*Builds attractive and accessible email brochures, newsletters, e-fliers, presentations, and other communications materials using programs such as Mailchimp or Canva.*Conducts ongoing research and training for program staff in emerging technologies and effective practices for online and blended student support in the maintenance of resources, sites, and media products developed.Other Duties as Assigned.Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Video Production, Graphic Arts, or Creative Media; and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for technology in education or communications such as video production, website development, social media, distance education; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in technology in education or communications as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with technology in education or communications.Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.Demonstrated ability to operate digital photography and editing technology, website development platforms, video production hardware and software, and graphic design software platforms for social media graphics, presentations, posters, and other visual content.Able to work evenings and weekends as required.Desirable Qualifications
