Vassar College is a smoke-free, tobacco-free campus.Position Summary and ResponsibilitiesThe Vassar College Library is seeking a Library Specialist to join the Collections & Discovery Department. This position will report to the Head of Collections & Discovery, and work with a team of Library Specialists. This position will assist the Head of Collections & Discovery and the Electronic Resources Librarian in the management of online materials from publishers and other vendors.ResponsibilitiesAcquire electronic resources.Maintain, configure, and update the knowledge base of electronic resources.Retrieve usage statistics.Renew continuing electronic resources.Provide technical support.QualificationsUnderstanding of the importance of the Library’s role in achieving the educational mission of a college or university, demonstrated by coursework at the college level and/or equivalent experience within an academic setting.Previous experience in library technical services or working with related technologies in a library setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and the Google suite of tools.Demonstrated ability to perform exacting work with attention to detail despite interruptions.Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize appropriately.Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team.Must be able to understand the inter-relatedness of tasks.Must be highly motivated with a strong sense of responsibility and curiosity.Must be flexible and able to learn new skills.PreferredAssociate’s degree or higher.Training in college libraries.Previous experience with OCLC.Previous experience working with an integrated library system (such as Ex Libris’ Alma).Special Instructions to ApplicantsTo complete your online application, you will be required to attach your resume, cover letter, and contact information for 3 professional references.
